Corvette Z06 in BullRun - downshifts

It's probably a repost but I noticed that I never heard him once blip the throttle to revmatch or double-clutch for a downshift at those speeds! What kind of transmission did GM use for the Z06s? My TR-3650 gives me a hard time if I try to downshift w/o revmatching or double clutching and I can hear the synchros whirring like a turbine.

I've driven that route quite often and am familiar with some of the potholes there! I'm surprised he didn't complain about the roads here in the US and it was funny how he kept running out of gas.

I listened carefully and never heard him revmatch or double clutch to do a downshift in order to keep up with the GT. Either he had an automatic, a really good manual gearbox with excellent synchros, or a skilled driver with an excellent gearbox?

Do you have any specific time indices?

I heard him do it around 2:18, but the one right before sounded like it came from the Ford GT.

Did anyone else catch that at the beginning? The British guy said in front was the Ford GT with the chief designer in it... Do the SVT engineers carry special IDs in their wallets to allow them to speed on the highways?

the Z06 has a Tremec 6 speed manual gearbox. A guy at work bought a Z06 a few months ago.

It was impressive to see both cars running at 240 kph or 150 mph in that traffic. One car pulling out in front of either and we may not have seen the video.

I've done some high speed driving in my GT on some back roads at 3am several times. Probably not really a good idea (lots of deer around here) but what is done is done. Anyway, I did my fair share of downshifting while at higher rpm's and under a load and such, never noticed the synchros having any difficulty catching up. Not to say it wasn't there, but it obviously wasn't bad enough to make me notice.

If you ask me, metroplex, you are being hypersensitive to every squeak, rattle, and bump. If the transmission makes a little "whirr" when you downshift, so be it. Just because the synchros make a sound when they are working doesn't mean they are being hurt or being worn down quickly. The synchros are doing what they should, and will probably last a long long time.

My buddy has an '04 GTO with a 6sp manual. He drove the stang the other day and the first thing he commented on was "wow, this is a slick transmission" and "man, this thing shifts so smooth" His car was $33K, mine was $26K. I think the TR-3650 is a great manual.
