Inside Line really gets it too when it comes to this car.

Nothing says "I've still got sack" like a 100-foot burnout in a supercharged, pushrod-powered American wagon loaded with a toddler, a stroller, a case of Huggies pull-ups and 2 gallons of organic reduced-fat milk. This, friends, is the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon. It's a machine built for the unemasculated American male who still makes a nod to utility. And we want one. Badly.

Hmm, the RS6, sounds great, but if we are on cars that we can't get in the states, then I'm back to the Walkinshaw Commodore Wagon.

Since we can't, I'll take the only American wagon left. Even if it is a little ugly. They usually give the best rides anyway!

I do wish Pontiac, God rest its soul, had brought over a GXP version of the G8 wagon that perhaps us poor working slobs could aspire to. Alas, perhaps Chevy will see that light and bring over a version(s) of this great platform.

Or Dodge still made the Magnum SRT-8 (or pick up a cherry used one...).
Yeah I figured..was just busting your chops.
I can totally get on board with this statement though!

Late '70s LTD Country Squires

We had this beauty when I was a kid... Ours was Medium Jade Green. Huner Green vinyl interior... Seats 10.... I found one a few years back.. I should have bought it... I think I need one of these... So much fun. Granted every road trip longer than 100 miles was routed around gas stations... that 400 got a whopping 5MPG.

Love that Country Squire, we had one almost just like it, a year earlier and dark green.

Seems others are getting on the Power Wagon band wagon too:

I find my thesis well supported.

I predict a dawning age of power/sport wagons rising like a flaming sun, scorching the decaying remains of the SUV age like so many theropods under a Chicxulub bolide.

Don't mean to overplay this too much, well, yes I do, but I've always had a soft spot for powerful wagons and am glad to see that others are realizing that any wagon need not be some emasculating kiddy carrier most reflexively see them as.

A guy at my work has a v70r in that blue and I smile every time I see it. When I was awd car shopping and bought the five hundred I was looking so hard for one of those.

This is the only wagon I would drive.

1969 Mercedes 300SEL 6.9L V8, only 1 was produced.

I have a soft spot for wagons and the CTS, so I agree of the coolness factor.

Too bad it was sold before I got the $

A Magnum would be nice to own R/T or SRT8 of course

I've always loved wagons. The first family car I really remember as a kid was a lime green Caprice wagon back in the 70's and early 80's. My wife and I have owned a couple of Volvo 245 wagons, they were pretty down on power, but they handled pretty well with their 50/50 weight distribution, better wheels and tires, and the swaybars I added.

For a long time I thought a hot wagon like the CTS-V wagon would make a great family car, but after several long trips in our current family car, a Subaru Forester XT, with a 7 year old son who gets carsick when daddy has too much fun, I'm starting to change my mind. This year he threw up in the car twice on our trip out west, once on the PCH as I was enjoying the curves, and once when we were halfway home on the freeway.

That kind of surprises me because the Subies aren't floaters like the old wagons.
I remember a few times in the back of a Pontiac Bonneville wagon getting quesy on two lanes when we'd go on hunting trips with my Dad and his friends. But I always attributed that to the cigar smoke as I passed them "905 Beer" from the cooler next to me. lol (Can you believe they used to let you do that??)
