Only has 190 ft/ibs of Torque. But put that in a Mini or a go-cart and your in buisness.

The lightest, most powerful production V8 in the world is now available for installation in your Lotus Elise or Caterham (at least if you live in U.K.). It is an astonishing piece of kit:

weight: starts from 163 lbs (!!)
capacity: 2.0 - 2.4 liters
power: 320 - 400 hp
5 valves per cylinder, 4 camshafts (DOHC)
rev limit: 10200 rpm (12500rpm in racing form, tested to 15000rpm!!)
flat-plane configuration (basically two powerful, ultra light inline4s spliced to the common crankshaft)

The idea is brilliant in its simplicity: glue two motorcycle engines together to produce a V8. It was proved viable back in the 90s by the British company: Motopower. Of course in reality it proved much more complicated, and only now first such engines are being custom-installed in various machines.

I hope they will eventually make a version of RST-V8 certified for US emission standars. When installed in Lotus Elise it would produce a power/weight ratio beyond belief.

Pressurize it to the tune of about 4psi courtesy of a tiny no-lag turbo, stick it in an Ariel Atom and let the superlatives fly.

that'd make for a sweet golf-cart engine. you may need to add seatbelts though.

it reminds me of a school that used a in-house designed 600 cc V-8 in SAE Formula some time ago. this engine actually works though.

I've heard a bit about this engine. It was designed for the Radical SR8 sports racer. It's basically a pair of Hayabusa engines sharing a crank. It also sounds absolutely fantastic... Somewhere between a Champ Car and F1 engine. I'll see if I can dig up a link to the dyno videos.
