Ive been reading many reports about the future of chevrolets economic rwd sports car, the camaro. Lots of speculation during past months seems to be coming true. Recent bidding by delphi on the dashboard and safety units only makes it obvious that mustang's rival will be back. Insiders have said that the following renditions are extremly close as too what will be coming out of chevy in 2007-2008. I for one am happy about camaro coming back. Nothing like competition to make each other better. In 64 chevy needed an answer to mustang, now that the all new stang will be out in less than a year they notice the fact that they need a rival again. Just like the good ol' days.

What does everyone think of the possiblity of this camaro?

Was just thinking..not sure where the artist got that odd AMX looking body line off the fender openings.

Seems strange

I can only imagine the discussions taking place within GM right now. They are going to have to make this car look good enough to buy over the Mustang but not as nice as the C6, which it will share showroom space with. good luck with that!

GM has ignored this problem for a long time by placing the C4 and C5 next to Camaros that look like crap in comparison. That's certainly not going to give people a reason to buy the car.

I am a big fan of the new 2005 mustang and will definately be
purchasing one.

However, I do think that GM should reintroduce competitors to
the restyled mustang.

I would like to see them reintroduce a retro Sting Ray in the
1969 style.

Also I would like to see Ford introduce a Capri based upon the
new 2005 mustang but with more futuristic headlamps and
front end styling --like to austin martin

They need to make it MUCH better quality and affordable, they got out of contol on pricing and quality went in the toilet. We will see, but I'm not holding my breath or loosing any sleep for the next 3 years at least. 10 bucks says though that drawing has nothing to do with GM, again..........

Rendition were done by Chris Pauwel, he took various hints from insiders and put it together, what he got shocked the insiders because how close they beleive he is. Some say too close for the insiders sake.

Yea, I like the top one better too. And I can't wait for some more competition between Ford and Chevy. :jedi: But we all know, that of course Ford will come out on top.

I don't think it will look like this.

GM is set on moving cars more forward than retro inspired. I would say look for a car that takes different styling elements from all of the Camaros rather than just the 1969 car.

Look at how they did the Vette. The grill and lights combo is inspired from the C1, the power hood from the C2, the fenders from the C3, the read from the C4, and the overall shape from the C5. This seems to be the current popular design strategy coming from the GM styling studio.

I like it, it has just enough retro cues, and still give it a modern look. That would be cool if GM actually made it.

I like the squared front end of the top one, even with the AMC Javelin/AMX styling touches.

Also, saw a little blurp in Hot Rod about GM regaining trademark rights to the name "Chevelle." Maybe Mr Lutz will require a better styling job on a GTO drive train equiped Chevelle.

Wow, I love the top design. I was never really a Camaro guy either; always preferred the Firebird. It would be awesome to see the 'Maro come back to go head-to-head with the Mustang again, but like BlackRiderX, I have to wonder if the final production version would look much like this. While anyone working on the next-gen Camaro team might want to put together a concept like this, most GM prototypes come off the line looking very little like their concepts (the Sunfire and G6 are a couple of examples).

However, I would hope that by now GM knows they have to break the mold a little bit if they're going to have any hope of competing with the awesome new Mustang. Bob Lutz doesn't much care for the retro cues, but I think the buyers in this segment do, and he's gonna have to consider that.

I think it might look similar to the SS concept - which influenced those drawings.
