Christmas gift for the Trans Am
After 23 years and 85,000 miles I finally decided to get new shocks/struts for my Pontiac. I've always put it off as the front pair are labor intensive. After several quotes all in the same monetary range I stuck with my new local shop that was recommended by my old mechanic. $1,400 later I'm enjoying the 4 new Monroes here in the 'twisties'. It really is nice having the car handle the way it is supposed to. I was impressed and should be good to go again for awhile. For that kind of $$$ it would be nice to 'see' the improvements but at least you can 'feel' them. Next oil change I will enjoy them when I'm under the car

It's hard to lay out the $$$ but when you keep the car forever, it is worth it.

^^^ Great ads! Clever post too. Haven't seen those ads in a long time. The Firebirds have aged very well. The comments are almost endless when I take it out. I think I mentioned this one already but one of my favorite moments was heading south on I-75 in Atlanta in a horrible traffic jam 2 years ago. A car carrier was hitting his horn and signalling my wife when he was next to us. I figured I had an issue of some type so she put down her window and the guy yelled out, "I'll trade your car for anything you want on back." Of course he was kidding but all those $60k - $70k cars he was carrying was kinda cool the way he was thinking.
Congrats on you new car ride. I agree the cost is a bit shocking, but it seems everything worth anything is significantly higher in the last 4-5 years.
Yup I think your vintage of Trans Am holds up looks wise very well. Very Sharp looking cars. Always standout when I see them on the road.

Same here. Before our convertible purchase in Charlotte, we owned this 1996 Formula (blue-green Chameleon) bought new in Sarasota FL. Owned it 9 years. No issues with the LT1 V8. Sweet ride!! My wife simply wanted a 'vert for the mountains along with our Mustangs over the years.
