Chevy shows off Malibu's new face
Nice and certainly a step up from the uber-bland Cobalt.
Interior does somewhat resemble an SN95 Stang done about 10X better. Colors, finishes and materials -- at least what you can tell from the pics (way big caveat here) -- look far better than the Tubberware interiors of your typical Chevy. Of course, final judgement will have to await seat/fondle time. The black/satin-metal even approaches being sophisticated.
Exterior is clean, well proportioned and not gimmicky. Sort of reminds me a bit of the VW Pheaton in profile and rear aspects -- itself very well executed if a touch bland. I do suspect, too, that it will be a design that looks better in person than print.
The Epsilon platform, while not cutting edge, is quite competent and the top dog motor will be the 3.6 DOHC 4V 252hp motor out of the Aura, again, bordering on sophisticated. Of course, a LOT will depend on the subtleties of suspension and drivetrain fine tuning, the final development step where GM/Chevy so often succumbs to last minute penny-pinching and muffs a promising vehicle.
Wonder if/when they'll have an SS version?
