Chevy confirmed SS rear drive sedan

It wouldn't make any sense investing all that money on bringing Falcon to the USA, when Ford already has the Taurus which sells great and shares platforms with other Fords.
I always thought the G8, particularly in GXP trim (with a stick shift!), was one of the best "American," sedans ever, even if it took the Aussies to actually do a great modern interpretation of an American sedan.
Unfortunately for it, it couldn't have been introduced at a worse possible period, when gas prices were exploding and the economy was imploding in 2008. Not only did the economic meltdown spell doom for the G8 itself, but also for Pontiac and darned near GM and the rest of the U.S. domestic auto manufacturing industry itself.
That said, the G8 made a very credible poor man's BMW E39 5 Series, even looking a bit like one with its sleek, refined, understated yet still sporty looks. While some may consider it "boring," say, next to the gaudy, extroverted, neo-classic looks of a Dodge Charger, I and others think of it's design as more sophisticated than sophomoric, for drivers of of a certain age.

It certainly performed very well and yet was very practical. The GXP especially was a veritable working man's M5 and remarkably, came with a STICK SHIFT! Were they still on the market, it would be on a very short list for my next car, especially given that I have a new 6-month old to cart about.
I will be interested to see how Chevy carries it off, hopefully not tarting it all up with cheesy "performance" schlock to appeal to the knuckle-draggers and mullet heads.
Rumors of follow up Sportwagon:

and, especially, Ute:

...really sounds cool (did I mention new 6-month old?). Almost ready to order some yards of Astroturf to line the bed of the latter.

I didnt are for the G8 but GM has won me over with other 4door rear drives like the impala SS ( the 96 impala SS, not the newer one) i know it couldn't do much past 115 mph but dang it got there fast, and it's sleeper look was fantastic in my eye

You can't even find a caprice or crown Vic for sale around here. People hold on to those big rwd cars like they are gold. They will sell here. Hell the wife will probably want one. She hates fwd cars too. Lol

The fact is, if something is selling well - companies would producing it.
If Crown Vic was such a high seller, Ford would be still producing them. No company will kill off the product that's selling.
The fact is, not counting police interceptors, Ford was selling maybe few thousands Crown Victoria per year.
You won't find Crown Victoria for sale anymore because 99% of them sold went to the police, and after 5 or 6 years and 200,000 miles of abuse - they're ready for a junkyard.
