And they should! Nice to see GM taking the initiative, to bad the world is filled with Consumer Reports waving drones who would rather read the opinions expressed in some collection of glossy paper designed merely to fill the space between paid advertisements than take the time to go down to a GM dealer and actually compare the two.
why stop with just the camry, if they are so confident, why not put a camry, accord, and fusion in there too? See how well that turns out. That way they are not just "giving more credence to what Toyota is doing to us if you put it out there."

The new Malibu certainly looks the part. But it remains to be seen if it's a true contenda.
Even if it is, I'm sure the rags will still give the nod to the Camry and Accord, since those "magazines" were bought & paid for long ago.
That's pretty cool. Honestly, I had no idea what a Malibu was before reading this post (I mean, I couldn't picture one in my head). I hope their claims are true, because honestly, I'm sick and f-ing tired of Honda and Toyota (Honda especially) riding on reputations built almost 30 years ago. Times change, people!! My Honda Prelude was a POS, and a lot of American cars built today are very reliable!
Personally I like the new Malibu better then the Camry. To me the new Malibu actually has some design thought put into it rather then the Camry's Old man racer body kit which makes the front and side skirts look like a poorly fit body kit, but yeah CR is bought and paid for.
There's never been anything attractive about a Camry's 'styling'. Even stealing as much as they could from the Sonata, the Hyundai still looks better(if a competitor's vehicle makes Toyota nervous the next version of a model immediately takes on styling cues from it). Until they care enough to delete the rear bulkhead to strengthen the unibody enough to scrape through crash tests without it(which is standard practice car design straight out of 1982) I have no respect for them doing the bare minimum to keep Americans buying them.
