Chevrolet wants to build a Volt-like prod. car
I think they look kinda cool!
I think the car looks cool, and the drive train is awesome. Perfect gradual stepping stone to a full EV. Smooth transition, next step would be a smaller gas engine as the batteries get better. Eventually, ditch the engine altogether once the batteries can get your 400 mile range or whatever the industry is gonna decide is an adequate range. No massive changeover of infrastructure required, as in the hydrogen economy.
I wish Ford had come out with this instead of the Airstream... that was a funny looking concept.
And while the series-hybrid set up means that Ford's hy-series powertrain could swap the fuel cell out for a gas engine, I wish they had actually shown two versions of the drive train. One with a fuel cell, and one with a gas engine, just like the Volt. I'd happily buy a Hy-Series Edge with a little 1.3L engine instead of that fuel cell.
