Wait for few more months, 2009 model will be out on sale then and I don't think dealers will do much of mark up, especially since they didn't even sold all 2008 models.

6 months ago, a dealer in the area said all the 2008 models were spoken for, now he has 3 in the showroom for sale. Apparently there have been some cancellations due to the price of gas, economy, whatever. I beleive by next year the 2009 models will be discounted, especially with the new Camaro coming out.

As an aside. One of the things I like about this forum is it is not occupied by childish brand bigots. Rather, most seem to be able to openly admire another car besides the Mustang.

It's a little agonizing to have to hear some people on other forums rant and rave with critisism about the Challenger in order to justify their purchase of something different.

Back on topic, the Challenger looked really nice next to the Shelby GT. Bigger, "but not at all OMG it's huge". Very large trunk, roomy back seat, so there is some dividend in it's larger size.

The owner had a time slip on the window alongside the sticker. The car ran a 13.26 with only 1,000 miles on the clock.

Not too shabby.
Same here on the size thing, was at Richmond Dragway this past friday, didn't see the orange challenger's run though.

The SE is a 6 cyl and you certainly don't want one of those. The middle ground R/T with the 5 spd manual or the SRT8 with the Viper 6 spd manual are the ones that will be worth something. Right now I am sticking with my Mustang and my Saturday Night Special.....

The Challenger is the right car at the wrong time, pure and simple.

Why not? Its still 250 hp which is a pretty high number.
My old Intrepid had the same 3.5L. It was pretty fast and fun to drive.

I agree....I'd take the SE....a pair of turbos on a 3.5 would be awesome and still net the gas mileage if you keep your foot out of it!

My only problem with a Challenger (other than it's too heavy) is Chrysler's transmission.
I had 4 speed auto stick in my Intrepid which lasted barely 100,000 miles.

One of the mayor problems with those trannies is that the oil cooler that came with them is way too small. An external one should extend their life a lot. The other one is to change the oil and filter more frequently w the proper additive to extend clutch pack life.

Challenger prices on Puerto Rico wtf!!

I was on a Mopar forum and the guy's/gal's there checked and, you wouldn't believe this:
$72k!!!
And a doctor paid over $80k to buy the first one on the island, a red one if I recall!!! The dealer markup here is insane!!
Same happened when the 05 Mustang, the PT Cruiser, Caliber, New Civic and New Beetle came here. It's just hype. Then the prices come down after a while, even offer discounts for them.
