Right On Write Up...

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-0...-h-harper.html

"when you’re relegated to a gulag gloom, you spend lots of time considering the workmanship of the interior"

"I kept waiting for a piece of the car to fall off"

"Still, the latest Mustang is a better-tuned weapon. The Camaro feels blunt in comparison"

Sad that with all the crappy write-ups over the past couple of years doesn't seem to sway customers...I just don't understand it.

I dont know, the writer seemed to be a bit biased;

had a few moments of fun with the SS. But mostly not. The weight of that V-8 in the schnoz upsets any hope of poise.
For those who dont know, the LSx in the F5 is a few pounds lighter than the old 4.6 3v and the 5.0 and I think weight distribution is a tad better than the Mustang. I think the real peeve is with chassis tuning, but the F5 seems to have fallen in the same rut the 05-09 Mustangs did, tuned more for grumpy old men used to Lincoln towncars with a severe case of hemeroids rather than an actual sports tuned suspension.

Ya they were that was part of my point the Mustang outsold the Camaro and firebird combined during that time frame, and I'll bet alot of it had to do with stepping up and out of a Camaro or T/A. I'm sure skirt wearers had to be extra careful.

Biased? I don't see it. Un- or misinformed? Perhaps. He's hardly the first reviewer comparing the Mustang and Camaro to ***** about the latter's poor handling characteristics, especially when compared to the 2011 Mustang.

I think the Camaro is a pretty nice package and it's got IRS. I hope the new Mustang will have it. I'm living in Europe now, and I won't buy a car without it.

Independent Rear Suspension. Because Jeremy Clarkson says so. Any car without it is rubbish, and the handling is so bad that you'll probably loose control and spin out just cruising down the freeway on your way to work.

I don'y know if you'd call me "in the market" for a new Mustang, as I'm waiting to see what the redesign looks like before I make a decision when to get a new one. Aren't the other two domestics going to be redesigned around that time as well? That will help me a lot in deciding what I get.

The Mustang in general was criticized for its soft handling initially as well. It was only with the introduction of the 2010 and later models that the Mustang began to fair really well in comparative handling tests leveraging its lighter weight, smaller dimensions and better visibility.

I dont think Camaro is up for a major makeover for the next few years so it will be interesting to see what they do with the current car in the mean time. A track pack/brembo like suspension option would probably give it more favorable reviews when it comes to handling. The only stumbling block I see is GM's attitude toward the SS which pretty much boils down to "this is our track car" or maybe was until the Boss debuted

They're actually really good. I went to Croatia recently and they have better roads than any that I saw in midwest USA.

Bought my new 2012 in May, honestly the Camaro can't compare from a design or handling aspect. The Mustang feels better balanced and has a smoother ride/acceleration, the speed really creeps up on you, its almost effortless to speed in the 2011's. That being said competition is a good thing and the important thing to me is that muscle cars are selling, in spite of: high gas prices, weak economy, high unemployment rate, lower salaries, and boxes of cereal approaching $6.00 (serious stuff folks ). At the end of the day if it helps stave off the death of a market segment, which would effectively give those looking for "affordable performance" the options of a Corolla (or some other POS) with a red S badge on it, I don't care if its a challenger a Camaro or my beloved Stang.
