Camaro a go-go?

A recent article from the Post-Gazette.com points at the July issue of Motor Trend having detail about a new twist on the new Chevrolet Camaro concept: a drop-top. Supposedly, General Motors has already approved a convertible Camaro for production. Recent reports around various industry news sites all point to the Camaro concept hitting production, but there is still some hesitation as the business case behind the scenes has not been completed. It is assumed that GM will need to move 100,000 Camaros in order to see a positive return from the venture; a convertible offering will likely speed sales.

The blues one looks awesome (which is the first time I've liked an image of the new Camaro). But look at it: From the door back, it is almost an exact copy of a 1969 Camaro, especially with the vent and spoiler.
By the way, in this month's Motor Trend, they have a picture of a convertible Camaro, and it looks strikingly similar to the XLR. That front bumper and grille is way too similar between the two.
