camaro concept on GM web-site

http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/

GM has a pretty good track record for bringing the concept cars to market after they put them up on the web page. SSR, GTO, and Solstice come to mind, but the 1000hp Caddy didn't make it to market. 3 out of 4 is a pretty good track record. If they tone down that bumper a bit it'll be a nice car.

That's a pretty good sign that they're planning on building it.
I'm still not a big fan of the look. I keep waiting for it to grow on me, but it's not happening.

With all the hype, they need a car that will get them positive press. I am guessing they will build it.

As long as they don't mess it up between concept and production car, they have a chance of having a great product out there. I wonder if they will shoot for volume and have a V6 version or just stick to a niche V8 Market.

Hear they are having problems with the chassis. In Aussie land (where it is being developed), it is a 4,000# car. I hope they can drop several hundred pounds by time it gets in Camaro trim, but that is unlikely. And that would be a shame. We don't need any more lead sleds.

It was just featured in a GM ad during the Heat/Pistons game on ABC.

Me either. I like everything but the grill. It just doesn't look right to me.

knowing GM the production version will look nothing like the concept and it will be a huge dissapointment, but we'll see i guess. i am in line already to get one if they do make it thought, and it looks the same lol we have bought my wifes last 2 chevys from the same guy at the same dealership and i told him to put me on the list if they do make the new camaro and he said he would and let me know when i needed to bring the deposit money

Smells like desperation to me... They have this huge flash animation of the Camaro concept and then their real production cars down in little tiny boxes below. It's like they don't have anything really exciting in production and actually on sale to the public so they play up the Camaro concept("Look kids! CAMARO!!") , then it's "Oh yeah, we also have these other cars that you can actually buy."

Check out the fine print at the bottom of the page:
"You can't buy the Camaro concept shown here just yet. But you are allowed to dream about it."

That page has been up since shortly after the Camaro concept was unveiled months ago, so I don't think this is any sure sign that its going to production...

well...todays consumers tend to be more about looks, than anything else...I dont think too many people will care about how much it weighs...How many Mustang owners really care how much the car weighs?....probably not as many as we would think.
