Hopefully it won't look like a Belvedere

They should just leave it in a garage and play some old rock n' roll, maybe it will fix itself...

I like the "Forward Look". It really says "Fifties" to me, in that those designs really have the optimistic, Jetsons view of the future in them.

The "Forward Look" wouldn't work on new cars today, but when you look at it in the context of it's time, it's pretty neat.

Actually it's a pretty desireable car.

I guess the water helped preserve the whitewalls. I would have guessed they would be rotted beyond recognition once they found water in the crypt.

In my opinion that is an amazing achievement. Seriously, how many cars have you seen that have been out in the elements for half that time look 100X's worse? This car was subject to an environment that constantly had water around the body and inside and out was completely drenched in the perfect environment for rusting. Yet, it looks like (and don't quote me on this) it could still be alright if they gave it a good cleaning. Apparently the town still believes that the stuff that looks like rust is the leftover remains of a gel like substance used to prevent rust. I guess we won't know until they scrub it off though.

I've read that they coated the car with cosmoline. Look at how the bumper looks where they wiped it off... it shines like like new.

I would worry though about rust from the interior where the water sat in the carpet and underpadding. Look how the seats pretty much disintegrated. The floorpan is probably gone. The parts covered with cosmoline probably are in good shape though.

Hopefully they will clean it soon and we will be able to see how much survived.
