A bit frustrated at the gas pump yesterday.
I like putting premium name brand fuel in my '14 GT but yesterday was just plain frustrating with way too much spread between name brands and my local grocery chain store. While doing errands I needed about 10 gallons before returning home. BP, Mobil, Marathon all over $4 per gallon with an average price round $4.09. Normally I don't care and happy that I am not paying CA prices. However I went to the grocery store and they said I had 20 cents off per gallon. I checked out the pumps and the price was just $3.49. With the 20 cents off, I bought those 10 gallons of premium gas at $3.29 and saved $8.00. I doubt I am hurting my GT with this 'el cheapo' gas once in awhile (the manual actually states it can take 'regular') but this is an awfully wide price spread for premium. I know additives cost money in those name brand fuels but $8 worth for 10 gallons? I seriously doubt it and not pleased.
I'll go get my name brand again next time but this seems wrong. I had some bottles of Lucas ethanol conditioner at home and so added 4 ounces just in case the grocery markets are screwing with the ethanol content.

I recently switched back to 87 tune because I was tired of paying $1/gal more for premium compared to regular
Usually around here price for same octane at different stations is within about 30 cents/gal.Sometimes big name brand stations in tiny towns are actually cheaper than discount brand in bigger towns too
Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it in these parts from what I can tell

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if it's the oil companies or the owners of each station doing this? I'm thinking the latter..
