Gas Prices, Markets are affecting my decision for BOSS302!!

I make pretty good money, but Im not rich. Wish I was..

But I watched gas overnight go up another .05 this morning, and we're almost up to 3.90 for regular. Premium is over $5 now here in Central FL.

I'm starting to rethink the BOSS302 now..

Anyone else in the same boat as me? I put a down payment and have a VIN number from the dealer. I can get my $ back anytime.

One would say, dont worry- it will come back down and everything will work itself out. I keep thinking this too. I'm trying to be optimistic, I guess.

World Market, Oil, Mother Nature, are starting to take a toll on my pysche

Another massive Tornado yesterday in Alabama wiping over 200 people out. Whats next?

Based on fuel prices worldwide, we have been paying far less than the going rate for many years. I always assumed that we would end up paying prices that are closer to what consumers in other countries pay. Unfortunately, I do not foresee a dramatic decrease in gas prices. IMHO, it is unwise to buy a car you can't afford to drive or that you won't drive as much as you want to due to gas prices.

My question is why is there a 1.10 between low and high grade? That doesn't sound right.

+1. It gets some of the best fuel economy of any car in it's performance class. Seriously if you are concerned about gas mileage get a Fiesta.

Well, I guess Im feeling better then. I just literally received a $750 Ford incentive in my email, and I called the dealer- it's applicable to the BOSS302 as well.

I must of been stressing over nothing I guess...

I'm actually going to get better gas mileage with my Boss. My current DD is a 67 mustang. Mileage is horrible. So I guess I'll be saving money by buying a Boss.

It's not nothing...You have NO control over the price of a gallon of gas. You DO have control of which car you purchase and what MPG it will get. If you follow the trend line on a barrel of oil it's trajectory is headed to $100+ a barrel over the next decade or so if not sooner. In other words regradless of the current spike it's going to continue to get more expensive and $100 will be the average in just a few years.

From: a racetrack somewhere
Boss 302 = 444 hp from its aluminum V-8.

Fiat 500 = 100 hp from its aluminum I-4.

Both will get you from point A to point B in style (different styles perhaps but style nonetheless). One will get you there using more then twice the fuel of the other. If gas is of principle concern, go with the Fiat, just don't try to out drag any Camaros or Challengers that you encounter on your drives.

So at what price per gallon are you comfortable?

If it's $1.00 more per gallon ($4 vs $3) and you drive 300 miles/week (that's over 15k/year) you are talking about $15/week extra for gas assuming 20 mpg.

If that's gonna break you IMO you need to look for a cheaper alternative.

I've been daily driving my 99 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x4 for the past 275,000 miles at about 14 MPG. Looking forward to my "commuter car."

Don't sweat the MPG, especially if you do a lot of highway driving. Just the other day I reset the trip odometer before I began my commute to work which is just over 50 miles. I took these 2 shots just before I got off my exit;

On my way home with a lot of stop can go driving, the AVG MPG dropped to about 23. I would have concerns if you were shopping for a GT-500, but not a 5.0 GT.

I got mine with the Hybrid option package.

It's activated by a special Eco-Key that is only available in California right now.

amen to that.

seriously, i think people are joining in the hype about gas prices, not really realizing what it's costing them... maybe $7-$10 more a fill-up? If that is going to be your deciding factor for a $45k car, you may want to re-adjust your finances my friend. I see guys *****ing and whining over the cost of gas now, but they'll go out and blow $60 on a bar tab on the weekends.....
