Big Brother May Soon Be Limiting Your Speed
Story after link. ( Will GM Be Driving Your Next New Car?) Seems GM's newest 'improvement' to the Onstar system is the ability to slow your car down, or even stop it, remotely. The writer also mentioned the obvious implication that it would be painfully easy to set up a system based on the same principal to ensure that it is impossible for you to speed. And of course anybody who believes they have a mandate to come into your car and install a system which can be employed to dictate wether or not it can even move will certainly feel empowered to dictate how fast it can go when it is moving.
While this would likely only be practical on the highway, assuming such a system actually is implemented sometime in the near future, a potential companion feature which the writer doesn't mention is the ability of such a system to monitor your speed on any 'unregulated' roads allowing the govt/ to simply mail you a ticket any time you creep above the posted limit.
All I can say is that items like this need to be brought to light in the current Presidential campaign and people need to be sure just how proactive their particular candidate is going to be when it comes to the notion of 'protecting you from yourself' As for me, I've already got one mom, I don't need another. Finally, for those who previously, and prematurely, accused me of hating GM.......the situation has changed, and you are now correct.

That's plain stupid. Soon there will be so much technology the world will just die.

All the more reason to keep my '07 Mustang.
George Orwell and his nannies are popping up everywhere.
At least you still have the Second Amendment. I say march over to GM headquarters and let them know how you feel about this.

Yeah, the current system and leadership is severely screwed up, we are desperately in need of some fresh thinking and new blood (and I'm not talking democrats either). A reboot would be perferable.

It has been almost a whole week since I saw it last.
This week I watched the "The Road Warrior".

You are now on the Homeland Defense Department's "need to watch" list.
(I'm not sure if I'm joking.)
