uhh the mustang is more of 2 door passenger car than a sports car
its hard to compare a 505 horsepower V10 monster like the viper with a V6(most mustangs are) mustang and the corvette zo6 is a great sports car 2 seats, 405 horses,RWD,6 speed,great brakes and suspension but the viper takes the cake

Well, the early Mazda Miatas (even the new ones, for that matter) are low-horsepower 2-seaters, but would you argue that they are not sports cars because they're not blazingly fast?

Would you argue that the late-model Camaros are not sports cars? To me, they are the definition of sports car. Fast, two-doors, sporty (albeit ugly) look, good handling. But, they, too have a back seat.

How about the 4-seater Ferraris? Are they any less a sports car because they have a certain level of practicality?

To me, the Mustang is a sports car because it is sporty, it is a car, and it is fun to drive.

If money were no object, though, I'd go with the Viper from this list. :yes:

The classic definition of a sports car is that is has 2 seats. Put a back seat in and you get a GT--gran turismo, or grand touring. Regardless of what we call them, they're still fun.

Well actually the miata fits the definition of a sports car better than the viper or vette and definitely more so than the Mustang, which some would argue is not even a muscle car (most of those guys argue that the only true muscle cars were intermediate based cars with big cubic inch engines and in todays market that means the dodge magnum and chrysler 300 and the possible dodge charger are the only true muscle cars).

The ride height comment I have gotten from stang owners.

Also the handling and response is incredibly poor compared to sports cars such as the s2000, mazdaspeed Miata or the 350z.
