Hey all,
What a sad day to a horrible weekend (weather wise). Any how about 2hrs ago, I was driving back to NJ from Long Island visiting my dad. So on the LIE, everyone starts breaking, like to a dead stop.... So to avoid slamming on my brakes in the icy conditions from the storm we just had, I get over into the next lane still braking, but there was a car infront of me when I got over and they had started braking really hard, so to avoid hitting them I ran off the road in the snow and nearly went head on into a light pole. I managed to slide the car (97 Taurus) from a head on collision and instead the passenger side slammed into the pole, the back wheel was almost off and it looked like the car was almost about to split in half due to the impact. Things could have been worse..... Looks like the stang has FULL duty till I get another beater... I liked that car. Anyway be careful out there and try to keep the stangs out of the snow.......

Well, at least its the beater not the stang, and you're ok. There's plenty of beaters around...like a nice 88 Ranger 4x4 that would be perfect for you, and is not too far away.

Sorry to hear that. I still didn't get a chance to drive my winter car ('05 F-150 4x4) because there is no snow at all in Wisconsin.

My beater--and daily driver--is an 89 Escort wagon. We've had a wet but mild winter so far, but after several days of rain we had freezing temps and a little ice on the roads. Fortunately it's only 1.5 miles to work. Sorry to hear about the Taurus. That's why I hate winter driving.
