Yesterday I went out in the Jeep to run a few errands, and as I drove past the local high school I saw that they were running an autocross course. Didn't see what the group was, but the parking lot was full of ricers and pimped-out baby Bimmers. The guy driving the 3-series on the course hadn't a clue how to drive, as he basically went around the whole course sideways!

I thought about going back and getting my GT to see if they'd let me take a shot at the course, but as I was finishing my errands around town, I saw no less than five instances of rice v. rice stupidity on the streets! Nearly got my front end taken off by two clowns blowing a red light!

Apparently whatever club it was is comprised entirely of adolescent (physically AND mentally) overindulged idiots with serious penile issues and few functioning brain cells! :angry:

Well, maybe. At least they were learning how their cars handle at speed and that should at least prepare them for the street. No one should at extreme speeds on the street, and I don't mean purely MPH. Accidents happen when the road gets twisty and hopefully that's a lesson those guys learned from their time on the course.

Maybe the guy in the BMW was doing what he doesn't do on the street. Hey, at least they're having fun with their cars.

Agreed, I have no problem with people beating their cars up on an off road course, hopefully it gets rid of some of their stupidity when they come out onto the road!
Moving this to general vehicle discussion

But that's my point - they *did* take it out to the street! They got all spun up playing on the course, then went out and started racing on my town streets!

Ah, fair comment. Maybe next time this happens, the police will be waiting just outside the gates. You can bet if you had a problem with it, others will have complained to the cops!

I'd like to practice driving on an autocross course, but I'm only 17 and am not gonna pretend to know everything about how cars preform in corners at high speed, so I probably would look like an idiot too.

When I read your original post I didn't realize that the ricers you saw on the street were the same ones you saw autocrossing. You'd think they would would have learned.

Maybe it was a drifting competition!

Which I think is a stupid "sport", by the way.

I think that's what they thought it was.

Drifting=lack of driving skills.

SCCA solo 2 = Knowing your car and how to drive it...properly!
