My coworker wears a shirt that says "if my wife asks about that part on my car tell her it's been on there for months"!

thanks guys… LOL Gary, I need to get one of those. I just don’t tell her anymore.

I received the sunshade today and it’s a perfect fit. No gaps.

Took the family out for some ice cream tonight - then had people smile and point... even had a guy yell out to his family, “hey!!! That’s the new Jeep!!!”

(I love how the word “Jeep” is now worldly synonymous with “Wrangler”. Kindda like how we say “Hand me a Kleenex please” instead of Please hand me a facial tissue. Wranglers are its own brand!!!

Hah! Thanks guys! Had the day off today, just me - so I had fun with Wruby. Wow, am really loving this vehicle. I'm impressed with the design and engineering. It comes with it's own tool kit!

It contains everything needed to remove every single bolt on the Wrangler. I know it's a Fiat/Chrysler product, but I don't think any other vehicle they make is in a category like this.

Anyways, I proceeded to remove the front doors! It was a little nerve-wracking, since one wrong move, one dip in the arm, one moment of inattention, and I gouge or scratch the paint of either the door or the body, or even the interior paneling. In the end, thank goodness, I got it done issue-free. I worry though, if I do it repeatedly, inevitably - there's a mistake bound to happen there. Ugh.

Edit: they even have places to store the bolts you remove, which I think is really cool.

Then remove the last hinge bolt holding the door on the inside, then disconnect the main connector and it's done.

I then tested out my door hanging rack I made - works good. The new JL's aluminum doors are allegedly lighter than the older JK's were. Thank goodness - as I had to get them up on the rack. Pardon the foam noodle mess, but I was still finding a good orientation to get everything protected. I took a pic in the middle of it all. Am still working on it.

(all pics above are crappy iPhone pics - sorry)

Voila! It's off! Rear windows out, top down, and I went to drop off the kiddos at school! They really enjoyed that... lol. I did too. I was just telling Tony - this was REALLY fun and a different experience driving a "convertible" in this fashion... no doors, no top, and no need for speed. It was just a blast.

Then I went to a local park to make my attempt at making Wruby feel at home in her element - got my Nikon out, and went to town. (Wruby is detailed with Blackfire sealant, btw). I haven't found a bad angle of her yet... unlike Marilyn... rear quarter is horrible. And I just love this "Firecracker Red" paint of Fiat/Chrysler. It's a bright fire engine in your face RED. I'm SO glad I went with it instead of Granite. That pop is unbelievable.

Enjoy the pics!

Awesome stuff Burton! Looks killer.
You should make a poster out of some of those photos and hang them in the garage. Same with Marylin.

Very much appreciated, guys. Don't know what it is, but I'm really enjoying her. I've been blessed, and am very appreciative of my vehicles.

I feel bad though - I literally put Marilyn up on the lift with the intent of driving Wruby more (esp lately) and Quincy. Weather is prime time for sports car stuff, but - crap. My fears are only going to get worse. I only put 1k miles on Marilyn last year (did you know that?!?!?!) and this year might not fare any better, or maybe worse. Ugh.

Tomorrow - I have the day off - I am driving to Des Moines to get Wruby fully Xpel'd! Full hood, fenders, front grille, headlights, and am hoping to get the front hinges covered (apparently they are notorious for getting chipped - see this thread:
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/for...ck-chips.7287/ )

So needless to say, it's supposed to be a perfect 89 degree sunny day tomorrow, am leaving right after I drop the kids off and am going to enjoy this immensely. I might also get her tinted. We will see.

hey now, hey now. For the record, Tony is Burton #2. I had the mustang first (mine’s a 12) and I started the whole thing around detailing hehe

and the reason why I only had 1k miles last year was because I was building a house and moving... Tony just doesn’t drive his and won’t even leave her parked unattended. Lol. That ain’t me

So I finished taping her up for my trip tomorrow. Part of me thinks I should have done more or all of the hood, but... maybe I was being lazy lol. I might put a few more lines on later tonight. This thing is such a brick though, everything has to get covered! I can’t wait till I can drive her in peace!!!

lol... thanks Gary. The thing with rock chips, takes a microsecond, and it’s permanent. So a little effort on protecting it will protect it on the highway trek there to get permanently protected.

As for the oil spot - I already have a few it happened with my lift when I didn’t properly rest the lift on the latches and let it rest extendedly on the cylinder. So I had a few drops of hydraulic oil/fluid. Ugh. I didn’t see it till the next day or so.
