The question is how many 78 Honda civics are still on the road and how many 78 Ford Mustang II KING COBRA's are on the roads. ALOT more KING COBRA's! Why? because who wants to pick up chicks in a 78 Honda Civic?

any car can go 300K miles if your willing to put enough money into it. The Best Mustang, a 69 Boss 429 might need major work after a few hundred miles of burning rubber and drag racing. Its how you take care of a car that determines how long it lasts, and if your willing to stick more money into it. believe it or not any car from the 70's would not last much over 20K miles without maintenance. Any car built before 1980 is gonna need a major overhaul to stay on the road over 100K miles. I don't care what car your talking about, if you beat it and run it into the ground and you don't do any maintenance it will die. If your willing to spare no expense to keep it on the road it will stay on the road, unless you take it off the road and into a tree going 110MPH.
I used to believe in that story. Take good care and every car will last for a long time. WRONG. I took great care of both Intrepid and Mustang. Intrepid started with problems at 50,000 miles (currently 88,000 miles), Mustang started with problems at 20,000 miles (currently 29,000 miles), Camry still does not have any problems (currently 120,000 miles). I had Mustang since it was almost brand new (3,500 miles), Intrepid was also in good shape when I bought it (30,000 miles).

Don't let those ricer punks, liberals and enviromentalists convince you that a TOYOTA is just as american as a FORD.
I've never heard any of those three types of people say anything of the sort. And why would they?

Japanese didn't becamed where they are now until late 1980s.

How many late 1980s Corrolla's and Camry's can you see on the road? And then, how many late 1980s Escorts and Taurus' can you see on the road? Compare numbers, even though Escort and Taurus were 2 best selling cars at that time.

they actually DO care (i dont know about the ricers though :P )
It's just that if they don't look to conserve the way things are, they are seen as "America haters," when they are actually worried about the way things are, and want to change things for the better (in their opinion). Whether you think they are right or wrong, you cant refute the fact that they DO care. If they didn't care they wouldn't be liberals or enviromentalists, they would be people sitting at home, watching t.v., and picking their nose, not even thinking of the U.S. and the way things are (there are millions of people like that in the U.S., and These are the people that dont care)

After all is said and done all your College Degree says about you is very simple "I can learn". Something lacks thought in a lot of educated people, I call it, Common Sense. Seeing how we do not have enough openings for the current College Graduates. Where do we place the Millions of extras? Oh, I know, McDonalds and Wal-Mart, right?

I have been doing my personal Income Tax for over 30 years. Yea that's right, from way back in the 70's when it took four years of College just to understand the language. I still have them all with no signature in the payed preparers space to prove it. So much for an MBA. Today it only takes paying attention in High School to understand it. And I have many College friends that will not attempt to do their own simple returns, come to think of it they do very little for themselfs. All one has to do is follow what is written and be honest. Must not be a requirement, right?

An honest Income report for the average person has to come out the same whoever prepears and does the math correctly. Don't tell me you believe these TV adds that someone can get you more back than you honestly have coming to you. Numbers don't lie, but liars do.

Just a big point above. Not flameing you for your degree, I truely would like to have completed College.

Whats your point on the rest of this? Nothing is obscure, if you have more income you can simply afford to pay more without forgoing any needs. Lower income cannot pay more on anything with funds they do not have to begin with.

I think you may need to simplify your thinking to see the clearer picture. Walk in someone shoes that is a lot less fortunate for a while.

Again, I'm only pointing to the super rich with a net worth of 10 Million plus. Anything more than that amount is just a ego trip of the extreme or greed. I do not really think that includes you because you would have much better things to do than post here.

We need to but its your Thread.

My point was that your going to have problems with anycar at some point, (maybe sooner with a mustang, later with a camry) and if your willing to fix the problems you can keep the car on the road forever. I have driven the same car (78 Ford Mustang II Mach1) for over 10 years. New engine, transmission, paint, upholstry. OK, it would have been less maintenance to drive a camry that whole time, but I know I could care less about keeping a Camry on the road so it would have been crushed already.

A Mustang has character, a Camry doesn't. So why would someone care enough to keep a Camry on the road past its normal life expectancy? The Mustang has nine lives, the camry has one. Maybe the camry has a long life, but the mustang can live fast and die young because it has eight more lives to go.
