2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Unveiled
Europe:
Seven engine options will be available, closely mirroring the hatchback model. A 103bhp 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine will be available from launch, with a Bluemotion Technology version soon after. A 158bhp 1.4 TSI and 197bhp 2.0 TSI will complete the petrol range. Diesel choices will include a 103bhp 1.6-litre TDI offered with or without Bluemotion Technology, and a 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI.
USA:
Powertrain offerings mirror those available on the Beetle hatchback. There are a trio of engines available, including a 170-hp 2.5-liter I-5, a 200-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four, and a 140-hp 2.0-liter turbo-diesel I-4 that’s rated at 41 mpg on the highway with a manual transmission. Either of the turbocharged mills are available with the choice of either a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox, but the 2.5-liter I-5 comes only with a six-speed automatic transmission.

And I'm gonna catch hell for this but this is a chick car. Plain and simple. Of the little
minis and fiats this is the chickiest.

The new Bug? I like it. Much more than the previous one. I've seen a couple on the road here in the UK, and it makes a very pleasant change from the dull euro-boxes.
