2012 Focus Titanium
2012 Focus Titanium
My Social Director bought a new Focus. I like it more than I thought I would. The hatch is a slicker-looking package than the sedan. She has had a blast playing with the MFT, Sync, the backup camera, and the park assist. The interior has a nice look--I'm not sure how well it will wear, but right now it looks nice. Sirius is a nice-to-have and the voice command system works very well. So far, it is averaging about 33MPG. I haven't driven it any highway distance, so I'm not sure what it will do with an extended stretch of highway.
it handles nicely--though she didn't opt for the Titanium handling package, the 17-inch wheels offer a pretty good road feel and responsive steering. Dual-zone climate control, heated seats, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, cross-traffic alert--are conveniences, but I could get used to the backup camera in hurry.

good luck keeping the white upholstery clean, but otherwise that's an awesome car!
That's what I want to buy for a DD, Focus Titanium with the handling pckg, and I think I can even get it in Sonic Blue to match my 04!

I have been driving our 2012 Focus Titanium a lot for the past couple of weeks since I just sold my 08 Mustang. I had not had a chance to drive the Focus much before now and I have to say I absolutely love it.
Forget everything you remember about the Focus before 2012. It's quality and built nice. It's tight, very nimble and fun to toss around. It feels pretty much like the "GTI" that I always wanted Ford to make. The features cannot be beat.. I love My Ford Touch, Keyless entry and start system, dual automatic climate control, LCD information center... I took it on a weekend trip and it was very comfortable with no fatigue... I have been getting a daily average of 28.7 MPG. Even though it's geared for economy it eventually spools up and goes like hell.
I swear if Ford made a sporty coupe off the Focus platform I would have been very tempted to buy it over another Mustang...

That's the only reason why I didn't buy one last summer. I test drove it, I loved it, but the dealer wanted $20,000 for one of base models ... I decided to wait until next summer and then try again, maybe they'll have rebates then. Otherwise, I would rather spend $20,000 on much larger Kia Optima.
It's also a lot more expensive than most of cars in its class.

If you think the FOCUS isn't worth the asking price though, buy the KIA.
Those are super nice. When we saw those first come out we regretted buying the 2010 SES we have.
Oh yeah and good luck keeping those white accents clean like someone already said. It does look mighty sexy though.

"Wait until the ST comes out"
That's what I'm waiting on. Its between the titanium and the ST, even though it'll be another year or two till I'm ready to buy a focus

I like the Focus, but IMO it's just too expensive. This is like the first Ford's compact ever in the USA that's actually good and Ford decided to price it more than any other compact on the market ...

Optima is much larger car, much more powerfull engine (160 vs 200 hp, not to mention 2.4L's torque compared to 2.0L), fuel economy is not that different (Focus is rated at 27/37 and Optima is rated at 25/36), Optima has 6 speed manual (compared to Ford's 5 speed in Focus), Kia also has the best warranty in the USA ...
And IMO Optima looks so good ...

Europe has a really great 1.6L EcoBoost engine in Focus rated at 177 hp (same engine that will be used in the Fiesta ST).
I think Ford USA should use this engine in the USA. It will be more economical than the current 2.0L, but will also have more power and torque.
