Sorry, the key word to that phrase was until. So far only rumors of going to alpha (CTS) platform. But those so far have less validity than the Z28 ones so hence why I said until I heard something.

If it has near cts-v performance at a 15k+ lower price. It will be one hell of a car.

R&T did a drag race between the GT500 and CTS-V Coupe, which likely will have the same driveline as the Z-28, and it beat the GT500, if only slightly. However, the CTS-V does weigh more than the GT500, and Camaro SS (I suspect the Z-28 will split the weight difference between the Coupe and SS) and was running a slush box too. In other words, the Z-28 will likely be a worthy competitor to the GT500.

I wonder if and how much the Z-28 might undercut the GT500, which I've always felt was a bit overpriced.

Another variable, what will Dodge be doing with the Challenger for 2011/12? Rumors of a 500+hp big Hemi abound. Probably won't match the GT500 or Z-28 performance numbers but would provide a better looking "gentleman's" pony car. However, they REALLY need to get their pricing in line with the competition. As it is, they're about $8-10K too dear with the current SRT8 as compared to the 5.0 GT and Camaro SS.

All Ford has to do to spank the CTS-V coupe or Z28 is switch to at least a 305 out back and add the TVS. The wider tires should have been standard from the beginning and might be all it takes without even adding the TVS.

I don't know how much if any less the Camaro would weigh in at. The 4 door is 4222 lbs base curb but is longer and taller overall but slightly narrower than the coupe. I'd imagine it's not much if any heavier than a Camaro similarly equipped. Also the cad has 3.73's, unless they add 3.73's to the lineup so far the Camaro's pumpkin is void of them. I'd put them almost even if not a little less edge to the Camaro than the Coupe has gaining most of it's ground below peak hp. Lastly the auto CTS-V beats the manual in all acceleration tests so far that I've seen.
