I sorta like it, but the front reminds me too much of a caliber.
I saw the new Dakota at the Chicago Auto Show, and it looked pretty sweet in person. And the interior was nice-looking, too (they wouldn't let anyone get inside the truck). By contrast, IMO, the Tundra's interior is poorly-designed, cheap-feeling and plasticy. I wonder if the rags will point this out like they do with virtually all domestic cars ("the interior is awash with hard plastic..." blah blah).
Nice to see they're softening the edges. Now what they need to fix so I would actually buy one:
1) Price - why buy a Dakota when you can have an F150 or Ram for the same price?
2) MPG - why buy a Dakota when it gets the same mpg as an F150 or RAM?
3) Equipment - LSD and tow are almost impossible to find without getting a bunch of stuff you don't want.
4) ABS - 4 wheel not standard
5) AWD - Unlike GM's profileration of AutoTrac, I've only seen it on 2 vehicles the whole time its been 'available'.
6) Interior - What are they doing with all the money they're saving there? It makes the oft berated Mustang's look plush.
7) The final five - D-o-d-g-e
