2008 Challenger SRT-8 on the street! Picture and info!

First, I want to apologize for the crappy picture. I only had my camera phone, but the picture didn't come out too bad. One of my customer's stopped in at work, to tell me the local Dodge dealer got their new Challenger in, and to head over, as it won't be there longer than 24 hours (the 1st customer had 1st rights). 8 pm hit, and I drove over to see it. Sales manager at the Dodge dealer (who I could tell isn't a car person ) told me it wasn't there, as the customer who was 1st on the list, was driving it. I asked him when he would be back. Proceded to tell me it was Vic, a local customer who owns several business offices and a killer pizza shop. So I headed over to his store, where a Hemi Orange SRT8 Challenger was parked outside.

1st impressions, of the car outside, in "real world, non car show" elements? Car is HUGE!!! VERY sharp lookng, but very big for what it is! Trunk is decent, but not helped with the subwoofer in the left side. Not as bad as our Shaker 1000, but will hamper any chance of getting a set of golf clubs in there. Interior is BORING!!! With the exception of the orange stripe in the SRT sport seats (which are VERY comfy and bolstered extremely well), its total Chrysler parts bin!! A shame for a cool exterior!!

Now, here is the BONUS!!! This car HAS a LS rear !!! I know, I know what all the magazines say, and video online of pre-prpductions driving and doing 1-wheel burnouts, but he did a small one, in his parking lot and BOTH tires were spinning and he left 2 tire marks!!! Don't know when Dodge added an LSD, but they did!!! All of us in the lot were telling him, before he did it, that the 2008s only came with an open rear. WRONG, and the burnout was the proof!!! Anyhow, here is the only picture I got. Not bad, but with a POS Razor phone (1 month left till I can upgrade, THANK GOODNESS), the camera phone is VERY sporatic!! Hope you enjoy the pic.

With a high torque motor and traction control, 2 wheel burnout doesn't prove LSD.
It implies it and I am interested to see the proof in the build sheet.

Totally true. The dealer even told him that the car had it in there. Now, take that with a grain of salt, as some dealerships don't know much about the cars they are selling. I only say this, as the magazines only could get the 1 wheel to spin, during the road tests.

Come on guys. SRT8's have been out for years, and they use BLSD including the Challenger. You can get two wheeled burnouts with BLSD.

Next year the Challenger gets mechanical, or true LSD with steper gear options with the manual.

Here's a couple pictures I took at a local mustang car show (TMS Show) last weekend. The guy that own's this one also owns the Shelby GT500 next to it.

Do you have any more pictures comparing the size of the Shelby to the SRT-8? It looks positively MASSIVE.

Thanks for the pics Jeff and Steve. Nice write up Jeff. I like the sunroof option. I would like the Challenger in black to hide the sunroof. Too bad Mustangs don't have that option.

Sorry, I have no more pictures. I did read that the SRT-8 weighs like 3900 pounds, so yes it's big.
