2007 Porsche Boxster S

Checked out my buddy's brand new 2007 Porsche Boxster S today. 295 HP with a 6 speed manual tranny. It feels as fast as a Mustang GT and handles like it is on rails and looks sexy to boot! The seats are also very nice, they hold onto you well without being too firm. The suspension is incredible yet delivers a compliant ride in city streets. The exhaust note was aggressive but not overbearing. No wind buffeting with the top down either.

Let's just say that I was IMPRESSED! I can see now why people spend $60k on a car!

I dont Know...I would think you could get something with quite a bit more pep, looks, and just as much of a status symbol with 60K...a 60K Boxter?
Yikes!....looks nice though..

Nice car indeed, but if I would be looking for something like that, I'd rather have a Cayman S.
But I understand that someone in Cali would get a convertible (=the Boxster S)...

It is a mid engine layout too so you can't actually open the hood or trunk to take a look at the engine. Also no dipstick to check the oil! And speaking of oil, can you believe that the oil change comes at 20,000 miles or 2 years!?!

Nice car.
But...
It goes fast like my car, corners a little better and costs more than twice as much.
Oh and it has no real trunk space.
Not a bargain, but if you have money to throw away...

Porsche has always been pricey. Not to mention that they have trillions of optionals that cost a LOT of money (for example the ceramic brakes package, I think it's some 8 grand...).
And they can still get away with it because of the prestige of having a car from a brand that is almost legendary as far as racing is concerned.
Basically, you pay for the name, but their products are awesome...

True enough but the MX-5's handling is so wonderful with the more accessable front-mid engine layout and MUCH more accessable pricetag.
