The 2007 Tahoe is built on GM’s new full-size SUV platform, which incorporates features such as a new, fully boxed frame, coil-over-shock front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and an all-new interior. Wider front and rear tracks enhance handling and lower the center of gravity for a more confident road feel, according to GM. The new Gen IV small-block V-8 family offers more power and displacement on demand technology. Preliminary testing with 5.3L-equipped models shows unadjusted combined fuel economy ratings of 20.5 mpg with 2WD models and 20.1 mpg with 4WD models. That’s better fuel economy than any other full-size SUV, according to GM. The Vortec 5.3L V-8 with 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque with displacement on demand is standard at the start of production. A Vortec 4.8L V-8 will become available later and will be standard on Tahoe 2WD models.

I believe they refer to that as "brand DNA".

I actually think it's an improvement over the previous model. They design was looking very stale IMO.

I think they strayed too far from the traditional look (I am assuming the Suburban will look the same as this).

I had heard that it looked similar to the Expedition, and I think it does a little, although I still think the Expedition is stil more or less one of the best looking SUV's out there.

Anybody else find those headlights familiar (think GMC full size van)?

The interior is a huge improvement, but why bother with the masculine/angular/edgy front-end and headlights just to ruin the look by blobby/rounded side-glass? Not to mention the body-kit look of the "interesting" front bumper.

I agree with the comments about the interior. This is a huge improvement from the plasticky and ugly GM truck interiors.

The exterior styling is evolutionary as opposed to something dramatically new.

With the way gas prices are though, I think it will sell about the same volume it does now, not much better. That's not saying that it is a good product, its just that I think with the gas price shock people won't look at SUV's as their first choice.

Not bad, but to me it looks very tame.

With gas prices as high as they are, and predicted to go much higher, you are looking at the next extinct species--SUV's.

I agree...if gas prices were like 99 cents it'd be cooler but a nice improvement. I like the car-like dash .

What's with the removable seats? Seems like most vehicles are going for the "fold away" type seats for more space.

I totally agree about that side glass, i was thinnking the same thing. Look at the rearmost side window. Its angular at the back but all bubbly up front, and then the rear passenger window is even bubblier. overall, i was pretty dissappointed with this restyling.
I'm happy about those removeable seats though. The foldaway seats **** me off, that means those seats are still on there taking up valuable space. My parent's Grand Marquis wagon had seats facing inwards to eachother in the back that would fold down into the floor. But if you completely removed the seats, you get an awesome storage compartment that my folks use all the time when they go camping.

I surpirsingly like it. But I don't think the SUV is going anywhere even with gas prices up higher than usual. They will come down again. Its just the market right now and there is a lot of work that needs to be done about the oil industry.

It's an excellent improvement for Chevy over the old units. Their trucks are really tired looking and feeling.

Too bad few of these will sell. I believe that due to gas pricing, the big SUVs will be all but dead by the end of '06.

I doubt SUV's will ever go extict 100%. People who don't need them will stop using SUV's as daily drivers. They will sell to families who love to travel with their toys being towed along.
Market will drop but will never go extinct.

definately agree with you there. but if gas prices keep going the way they're going, i dont think companies like GM will be able to afford to produce their 20-odd types of SUVs anymore

For some reason the first thing that I thought of when I saw the pic of the front was how much it resembles a minivan (the uplander specifically).
