2007 C&D 10 Best List! NO MUSTANG!!!!
So I went to the local Barnes & Noble, to see if any of the new auto rags had arrived. Now, I get all sent to me, but some reasons, the stands get them before me. Anyhow, I got home, and what is in the mailbox...The new Car & Driver. Its the Annual 10 Best issue. As you can read in the title, our beloved pony car isn't among the 10 chosen. Here is the list of 10 cars that made the issue. Feel free to rant, rave, or whatever. The list to me is total
Car & Driver 10 Best List (in the order in the magazine):
1. BMW 3-Series
2. Chevrolet Corvette
3. Chrysler 300
4. Honda Accord
5. Honda Fit
6. Infiniti G35 Sedan (only the sedan)
7. Mazda MX-5
8. Mazdaspeed 3
9. Porsche Boxster & Cayman
10. VW GTI
Okay... I'm not going to say very much other than they stuffed the list with small cars, and added a home appliance posing as a car (Accord). The only thing I will say, us the car made it last year, without the addition of a 500 hp variant. Now, with that car now for sale, it should have made it. Just like how the Focus always made it. It was the SVT that helped it always get on the list. Anyhow, I'll wait to see what others have to say before I reply. Enjoy the list all. I didn't.

VW GTI deserved it, that car is a blast. I think we were bit by the fact that the stang is in its 3rd model year where the GTI, Fit, G35 sedan, MX-5, and the mazdaspeed 3 are all new models. The 300 def. needs to get kicked off, i think mags just like the fact that its an old e-class uderneath. and BMW 3 series will be on the list for eternity, i dont know why, but it will be. I cant blame them for the accord, its a great car. i wish we had the real honda accord in america as an accord instead of the overpriced over optioned acura tsx. the american accord is such a bloated ugly car, but they drive real nice. i guess you just have to realize that american automotive journalists are in bed with automakers.
i dare, double dare one of these magazines to form an honest opinion about a car. Freedom of speech, and no one is using it.

outside of it being front drive.... yes i would rather have a toyota avalon.
Well given that i bought a 2007 mustang gt, i do like them as well. Is it a better buy, couldnt tell you. 200hp and 35mpg on the highway with a much more quality feeling interior that is about the same in being prone to interior rattles. the GTI is a sweet car. No i wouldnt buy one instead of the mustang, but i do plan on buying to go along side the mustang.

All I know about the list, is that if I wanted a fun to drive sporty car, I can't afford most of the winners. Forget the Cayman, and Vette. Too much $$$$. I won't buy a Miata, and while the Speed 3 sounds great (and is a good value) its front wheel drive, and I won't be suprise if there is some serious torque steer. And about the VW, No offense Joe, but I just don't like VW's. Too many horror stories in regards to repair bills, and quality.

i have a friend who owns two VW's (jetta from two gens back, and a golf from two gens back)
He hasnt had any problems with them so far. One Auto, one Manny.
Just gotta keep maintance up and it seems like VW will work a pretty good while.
My favorite car in that list is the MazdaSpeed3! The engineers created a fwd pocket rocket without the tourque steer (they have a tourqe "controller" designed especially for it)

Very cool design. Maybe they should offer it to Acura. I have to call up my local Mazda store, and ask them if I can take one out for a drive one day.
