That's pretty sick. Quite the engine for a car the size of a miata. Its like a modern day Shelby Cobra.

Nice, but I'd also like to see them stuff that V8 in the Saturn Sky, as it looks better than the Solstice.

Chuck and Co. will be doing exactly that, when the time comes!
It's a retake of the old Monster Miatas, stuffed full of 5.0 Ford goodness.
Anyone remember them?
a Monster Miata fan site
The main company site seems to be gone now.

This really is like a modern Shelby Cobra. It's a shame that GM didn't have a serious hand in this (unless they did and I missed that). If they were capable of executing an idea like this it would give me hope for GM. Rather than my current view, which is that they are the worst managed large company in the world. It reminds me so much of IBM in the 80's (yes, I was a kid then, but I follow computer history and am familiar with it).

This thing is COOL! I love the understated looks, take off the Mallet badges, put on stock wheels and imagine what havoc you could wreak with people's expectations -- "Dang, d'at girlie Solstice just crushed my Magnatosterone Turbo Hemi GTR 609, shootfire!"
I'll bet there's going to be a flood of V8 conversion kits for these things. Can't wait for someone to do the obvious and drop in a 505hp LS7. Unfortunately, due to corporate politics and whatnot, it is very unlikely that Pontiac will be able to cash in on this goldmine lest they trump the Vette as GMs performance queen. Will be yet another example of GM selling us what they want us to buy (even if resorting to outrageous bribes, err, rebates to do so), not what we want to buy, which is what has them in such a dark financial pit now.
But maybe they might, just might be able to get away with either a smaller V8 (5.3) or a V6. The turbo Solstice will undoubtedly be quite nice, but it won't be no 6.0 LS2! A shame because a factory LS2 Soltice is such an obvioius huge hit that, of course, GM will find some rationalization not to do it. :bang:
Maybe if Lutz steps in with requisite spine and clear vision, slaps aside those equivocating MBA suits and simply orders it to be so...
