Nuff Said!

Good stuff. And with the extra ~$12K one saves you can mod the Lightning to get into the 10's in the 1/4 miles and still pull (and/or buy) a boat to go fishing!

like i said a dozen times..it's not as if the speedtest was a landslide vicotry. The Dodge boys just wanted to say mine is better than yours. The lightning has the staying power and overall it's a better truck. when dodge can beat it consistantly by 50-60 mph then i will be impressed. A 4-5 mph victory could simply mean the wind was in their favor that day.

That type of speed in 0-60 and 1/4mile is based on the driver... get a good pro driver then u will see 0-60 in 4.9 if ur just an average joe you'll be getting in the low to mid 5s

its funny that an engine which began life as a truck towing-emphasis engine has now returned to a truck with little or no towing ability.

Dodge have 6-speed manual transmission while Ford have 4-speed automatic transmission.

I think if Ford have manual transmission, it could've have better 1/4 mile time.

Is it just me or are these pickup truck wars a little silly?

in my mind a pickup truck is something you drive to the construction site and haul parts from the boneyard for your project car.

I know these are "image trucks" but I would rather see Daimler build a 2-door coupe to compete with the mustang. GM is pushing a colorado SS, SSR and silverado SS but they could not refine the Camaro and build a real sports car.

I would say if there were pickup wars it wouldnt be on who is faster on the 1/4 mile, but who can haul more and do more work. Those new 05 Super Duties will be up there in the top! I am dissapointed they are only in auto, unlike chevy and dodge who offer their big trucks with a manual.
If i'm hauling i dont want overheating issues with the auto tranny.

if i wanted to spend a few hundred dollars a month in fuel bills by buying either one i'd still get the dodge.

naturally aspirated for one... u can supercharge anything and make it fast.

manual transmission. i hate autos.

Ford has my business with the mustang, but if they don't offer a manual on their super duty truck, then i'm going to Chevy or Dodge. Transmission is a deal breaker for me since it's what i'll be driving daily.
I don't care much for these fast trucks. Ford has my business on the Ranger FX4 tho. I love small trucks and it's the best looking.
