Pros: One of the funnest cars I've ever driven. All around great sports car. Pretty quick also. Very nice mechanicals, low and great styling. Insurance is pretty good and gas milage is excellent.
Cons: Expensive to repair if something breaks. Very cramped engine compartment...hard to work on.
Also ask rhumb, he owns one too.
Heres some pics of mine:
Wait a year and I'll sell it to you.

Great cars, but mucho repair issues. They weren't very well put together unfortunately. This was one of the first Ford-Mazda design sharing experiments, with the Probe and the MX-6 sharing platforms and many parts. My brother's 94 Probe GT was always very fun to drive, but he has had so many problems, and now the thing is basically just sitting there at a repair yard gathering rust because he doesn't want to spend the thousands it will take to put a new engine into it. Something about it having aluminum rods that overheated and warped or bent or something.

I stretch mine out pretty good and with 185k kilometers, that ain't too bad. No oil burning (nothing noticeable anyway), no rust....valve tap is my only issue and it happens only when cold for first few minutes.

Oh, one other thing: Ford Dealers Do Not Want To Repair This Car. I've had several dealers try to charge me way more than the book time to fix things. They believe it is too much trouble for them and mechs hate working on it. If you have a good garage, that is better.

Then post by clicking on the [IMG] button and pasting the address.
As far as looks, its not just girls. This car is very popular styling wise with the younger guys in my neighbourhood. A lot of people picking them up especially because of reasonable insurance.

Mileage on the GT will run 25 MPG and thats with a fair amount of abuse. I had a 96 PGT and my son had a 97 PGT... two hapiest days in a Probe owners life... day he buys it and the day he sells it! These things are sweet running machines, when they run. When they break down be prepared to open your wallet because there's NOTHING cheap on a Probe GT. You need to gt on the Probetalk forums for advice on repairs. You have an OBD1 model so buy youself a cheapo CEL code reader and a digital voltmeter ASAP. Good luck!
