Lol this post just proves my point! The fanboyism is strong here lol! Like i said, i currently own three Fords and i love em. I wouldnt sell them for the world. My grandfather was a Ford guy and my first truck he gave me in high school was a 1970 Ford E350 Econoline for $500, that was the **** wagon. There are few Ford guys bigger than me and thats a fact i can back up with recipts lol! The fact of the matter is that the new Camaro is a great pony car and will own this segment period! If you cant handle that then you need to get off Fords D$&K and thats it! Its a great car and anybody that is a true car enthusiest will agree! the new Camaro will rape the 2015 Fustang and you cant handle that, i get it! You probably are one of the few that actually bought the 2015 and are regretting it big time! Lol sucks to be beat by the 2014 Mustangs and then again by the 2016 Camaro lol! I get youre anger, id be pissed too! See you in my rear view mirror pall!!

I like the hood vents a hundred times better than the Mustang ones, I'll tell you that much. I like that you get Bembos as standard. I was never too keen on the design, but this looks sleeker than the last model. It'll probably be faster then a Mustang around any given course. Still wouldn't buy one though.

IMHO, the 2016 Camaro looks better than the 2015 Mustang, but the 2013/4 Mustang looks better than either one of them. Now performance wise, looks like the Camaro will be one up on the Mustang. We all knew that day would come.

I think they did a nice job. Biggest complaints were weight and interior and they took care of both. Its a great modern interpretation of the original. I think the front end is better than the Mustangs interpretation. You know its a Camaro coming at you. With a few mods this car will be a monster.

It's to bad that it takes 40 grand to get a v8 in a muscle car these days. I remember when I purchased a 1990 mustang GT brand new for 13,500. I bet these Camaros will be 40 plus for the SS.

The SS will probably be closer to 50 grand if you want the magnetic ride and all the other toys.

I agree with RodsMustang that it really stings to have to fork over $40k for a V8, and I suspect MustangFan may be right; that with all the goodies the new SS could climb toward $50K. Both cars are better than ever, but a well equipped GT Premium, or optioned up SS is going to be farther out reach for many more fans of the two cars than ever before.

You might want to consult an inflation calculator. That's $24,244.43 in today's dollars. Add almost double the horsepower, 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS, 6 speed, advanced traction control, multiple airbags, increased reliability, build quality and much more...the $30-35k spent on today's V8 Mustang is still a really good deal. I doubt the V8 Camaro will not be available for under $40k.

With tax, doc fee's, and registration, I think it will be closer to 40 grand. If you get it optioned out closer to 50 grand. That's a lot of money however you look at it. At least interest rates are down.

The price automobiles is due in part, to your point, inflation, but there are also incremental increases due to government regulations, (which lead to higher mfg cost, and higher development costs). This can lead to the price of cars often outpacing inflation. In 1965 the base Mustang cost $2427, over 50 years, the base 2015 Mustang adjusted for inflation should sell for $18,326. (Of course it doesn't--for a number of reasons other than inflation.) (Source Fortune)
Real wages on the other hand haven't budged in decades. In fact they have been stagnant since the beginnings of the 90's. Today's corporate sector worker has actually lost nearly 3% in wages since the economic downtown. (Source Economic Policy Institute)
I don't disagree with your point that the Mustang (and Camaro) still represent fair value, based on performance and content. No one is disputing that cars are better today than they have ever been--that is a truism. What is also true is that not as many average wage earners can afford to buy a $40k Mustang. (I have yet to see a V8 less than $41K--not saying that they are not out there--just saying I have yet to see one. I have seen several 50th Anniversary editions at $61 and $62K)
(BTW: top corporate officers on the other hand have seen significant wage increases over the last two decades. Of course, they are not likely Mustang or Camaro buyers!)

Don't get me wrong, I hate the 1%ers and corporate greed race-to-the-bottom mentality today. I know inflation isn't the sole reason for the increase in costs of these cars. It's a big part of the reason, but things you mentioned are true as well. You can get a base GT now for $32k. The base GT has a fair amount of standard equipment that were options or didn't exist on the 90 GT.

oh wow, I just noticed the epic body panel gap on the rear quarter panel. Who ruins a quarter panel by making it two pieces? notice the horizontal line
