Spoiler Delete for Canada
[FONT=Arial]
Dealer install is not viable because Ford could not control the quality of the install.
The spoiler on the Jet Black Aviator is a dealer install but only because of small volume and there is no in-plant process. Ford pays approx .9 for the install and our Trim Tech whines everytime he has to do one. They do supply a template but you never know! Besides, someone taking a drill to a new Mustang is more than I could bear.
Ford uses Crown VMS to install Freestar Sport spoilers off-site. Most luggage racks are now installed at the factory rather than PDI. So you will definately not see a dealer install option. It would be either there or not.
On this Forum there is a bias towards no spoiler, but the mainstream buyer sees it as an appealing sporty styling feature (especially V6 buyers). Many customers who bought the 40th Anniversary Edition (different bodystyle I know) ended up having a spoiler installed.
Therefore I am sure the take rate for a spoiler delete would be very low, well below Ford's feasibility threshhold.
So sorry Steve, I don't see it happening. Besides the spoiler is made in Canada!

The best comprimise would be to have the spoiler as a no-cost dealer installed item, at least on the GT's
With the Canadain market so small, I wonder if this is a possibility

I think that without the spoiler it wouldnt make the car...its like stripping the spoiler off a BOSS 302 it doesnt look right..well at least i think so...Ford shouldnt add the spoiler delete if only 25% of people in the world dont like the factory spoiler or no spoiler at all. I'm sure someone wont buy the car just because it has a spoiler...would be a mistake..personally i love it!!!
Oh as for the body side moulding...what were they thinking????? lol i think that was one of Ford's mistakes...makes it look like they tamed the car when the car just wants to leap forward when the engine is screaming at 6000 and ur foot leaves the clutch to hear that sweet sweet rumble and the high pitch voice of the tires squealing as ur rocketed back in ur seat shifting through the gears!!!

Tell me those molding where photochopped!
I just felt my dinner move.
"Attention all mustang shoppers....do not buy mouldings!!!!!"
Dealerships should have thier hands smacked for stocking these. :nono:
As for the spoilers
Got a couple questions to throw around. Has anyone heard of a company out there that has come up with a ducktail, that would fit over the existing holes from the spoiler, and still sit in the right position? That way no holes would have to be drilled. They would already be there. If not, why could'nt you go to a fibreglass company, and have one made to the corresponding holes, then just paint it to match your car?

I think you're right......if you look at the numbers, I'm sure many more people prefer the spoiler to spoilerless.
I am one of those people.....I just love my spoiler, even if it isn't functional.
I know Ford of Canada goes by statistics which don't lie. I can see why nothing can really be done about it.
My spoiler is off and the holes are temporarily filled with plugs. You would,t believe the looks, comments and thumbs up I have received. She goes into the shop monday to get the holes filled and the outlined section of the side mirrors painted body colour.
It cost $175 to fill the holes $250 to repaint the trunk lid and the front sectio n of the sideview mirrors. They did an excellent job ! When you look inside the trunk you would never know that there had been any holes there.
No mouldings or spoiler for me.
Hi again, BTW. Just figured I'd pop in a look around. Not sure whether I'll be posting regularly again as work is keeping me busy. I miss photoshopping mustangs though.

As for the side moulding, mine had it and it took a whole 5 minutes to yank them off. They were barely stuck on with the two-sided tape and practically fell off leaving beautiful paint behind. Anyone want to buy them? Cheap!
