Price Development - A look into the future
#1
Hi everyone!
I have been reading for a few weeks now and decided today to register eventually.
I am 21 years old, living in Switzerland. By the end of 2007 or begin of 2008 I will be coming to Ontario and most probably stay there for the rest of my life.......well at least not until I decide to move to California
I am really interested in the new Mustang GT and hope to get one after my arrival in Canada. My dream Mustang would be a redfire GT,5-speed manual and a ducktail spoiler!(actually I don't like the standard spoiler)
The amount which I am willing to spend for a car is maximum $17'000 CAD.
I know I could afford more, but since I am going to have to pay for my college studies, I prefer to be on the safe side and stay away from any financial troubles.
So what do you think are my chances of getting a 05 Mustang GT in 2007/08 for the price mentioned above?
Do you think that is realistic?
Thanks in advance!

Ontario? Find someplace warmer ![04](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/04.gif)
A 2-3 year old used Mustang GT is about from $17000-$22000 depending on options, miles etc. Don't forget taxes (we love those here) as that will push the price up.
So it looks like in about 2 years, the cars should be close to your price range, although if you want a GT, be prepared to spend a bit more for a good one.

Ford Credit sets the lease end values as follows:
24 month - 60% ($35910 x .60 = $21,546)
30 month - 57% ($35910 x .57 = $20,469)
36 month - 52% ($35910 x .52 = $18,674)
Lease end values normally end up reflecting high wholesale or low retail values, so based on these numbers your $17000 plus taxes will be a little low.
That money may get you a higher mileage, lesser condition car but you should probably figure on the $20,000 range for a nice one.
Just a guess. Who knows what will happen in three years.

First of all, thank you for your answers.
It's not that I can't spend more money, I am just a little bit afraid of the running costs.
I mean it's not done with buying a car. Insurance costs for newcomers are very high, especially when you're young. And you never know, after few months you maybe need to replace the clutch or something else.
Well I think, I should first do a test drive with the new GT and see it in real.
I already now can feel the incredible accleration and the V8 engine sound coming out of the exhausts
The older Mustangs are no alternative to me. I don't like the look of 94-04 Mustangs and the difference to the V8 engine used in the new GT Mustangs is too big. So if I'm going to buy a Mustang then only the new model.
@montreal ponies:
The weather is not really the same. In summer we have about the same temperature, but air moisture is much higher in Ontario(I don't know how it is in the other provinces) which gives you a really tropical feeling. And then the average winter temperature is much lower in Canada and you usually get much more snow like it was the case last week
Compared to Canada we have really mild winters here.
