I just spoke to my insurance agent and man, I need a drink. They want $174.00/month on the Mustang GT and that was for 2004 pricing as they don't have 2005 pricing yet. I hit the floor. I am 33 with a perfect driving record. No accidents, no tickets and yet that price is insane. My 97 GT when I bought it brand new was only $67.00/month and my 2003 Jeep Renegade is only $99.00/month. Sure the new stang is a sports car but my Jeep has a poor safety rating, after all it is an SUV.

What sort of rates are you guys in Canada looking at having to pay?

My agent does not believe that the price of insurance will go down for the GT. If anything, it will stay the same. I'm with State Farm btw. No rates as of yet though.

Now can we please stop talking about insurance.....I'm getting an ulcer.

25, no tickets/accidents, living close to Toronto

$3000/year best quote with full coverage

in the words of my mother "It would cost you less to take a taxi wherever you want for the gas and insurance of that Mustang :nono:"

Living in Manitoba I have gov.autopac. Clean driving record over 3 years with no accidents gets you good rates and 5 merit points on licence (thats 10 years acc. free) is the best you can have .
Insurance would be approx $1300.00 a year basic all porpose and goe's up from there.

It will come down to updated NHTSA crash test results(which of course will be much better), and added safety features to determine the new car's rates. They should be a little less. There are specific reasons for the factory wheel theft and anit-theft options fro the new car, allong with the factory rating staying at 300 hp dead even. Insurance is the top one. I just checked, its not tested yet. They have to buy one at a dealer first, they do not use factory-supplied models. Their headquarters are near here, they have bought vehicles and stopped by to do specific specification tests from us before. One guy was checking headrests in one of our 500's about a week ago.

Here in BC (Bring Cash) ICBC rates for full deductable, pleasure use only, $2 millon third partly liability and a full 40% safe driving discount put the new Stang at a little over $2300 per year based upon the quote a local insurance broker gave me.

It's pretty high...as high as a lot of Bimmers according to the woman who did the check for me. She said part of it has to do with the 300 hp performance element, and part because it's a first year model.

I hope so. Problem is, until the tests are done and insurance companies have data, they're going to interpolate for the next while. :notnice:

I have called at leats 10 assurance companies.....

Here is the best deal that I can find... (I'm 32, 30km to work (one way), no accident , one ticket (not with my car, with my CBR))

Full coverage.... 1450$CAN (tx incl.), but I need to have the Boomrang system (around 600$ I think + annual fee) or Sherlock (about 200$, that's what I will go for))...

It's by far the best coverage/price that I have found.

If you are from Quebec, give a call to Bel-air assurance.

I'm currently paying $1500/year on a Cobra ragtop, pleasure use only, with multi-car discount. I'm 35 with a clean record, no tickets. Mind you, my costs dropped a lot this year.....went down from $2000/year. Oddly enough, my winter car, a 2001 Accent, was $1600/year at the time....It's dropped to a slightly more reasonable $900/year. I imagine a new GT ragtop will run about the same, but I won't find out until the spring.
