As the canadian dollar keeps going up I was wondering if anybody was thinking of going to the US to buy a new Mustang, The canadian dollar presently is at 85¢ US which mean you could buy a base GT for $29,452 compared to $32,795 base price at a canadian dealership...

If the present trend continues (the canadian dollar keeps going up) and Ford of Canada does not reduce it's prices, this could be an alternative, I did a bit of research on this in the past, and usually the only mod required is daytime running lights and there is no duty since it's a car built in the US (free trade...). Of course you have to pay taxes...when you cross the border.

hmm... I might just look into this,

problem is, American dealers will be reluctant to sell to canadains, I am sure that is a big no-no. If I could get x-plan honored down there, then even with the taxes, there is a significant savings, plus I can get the spoiler delete.

The taxes of getting it brought over on top of the sales tax in the US would put you where?

Probably over what it costs here on a plan.

I would have to recheck on this but if I remember correctly you don't pay state taxes if you are "out of state", and as far as canadian taxes is concerned it's the same taxes you pay at present no more, there is no duty on cars built in the US or Mexico imported into Canada.

Thanks for the offer Maybe eventually if I am recalled at Air Canada, right now I'm working on a temporary basis so I will wait ...

Today I saw a WB 05 V6 stang, really looks nice! too bad the handling on the V6 stang is not supposed to be that great, cause the power on the base version would be enough for me, I don't think my 98 GT is much faster.

Salut Daniel.
