I got a quote for doing painted stripes on my car.
It is roughly 2 x 10" stripes from bumber to bumber and also stripes on the side (bottom of the door)

The guy told me he has to buffer the whole area where the stripes goes and then reaply a clear coat after the stripes are done... it is a too expensive?

Doing painted stripes is a very time consuming effort. All the masking and doing the layout takes longer than the prep and paint. And lets not forget...Automotive paint is NOT cheap. Thanks to envionmental concerns paint costs have skyrocketed. 2G's does sound a bit high, check around at other shops. Just remember... ya get what ya pay for. Also be sure the shop does good work. Ask to see some of their stuff. Once your stipes are painted on its not like Vinyl...ya can't just peel them off.

2000 is a reaonable price. A lot of work involved in just painting the stripes.

I was quoted $1750US. It is A LOT of work, bumpers have to come off and if done right they will clearcoat the entire hood, roof, trunk, spoiler and bumpers. They can cheat a bit on the side stripes as they have more edges to work with.

I agree with flight96 - "ya get what ya pay for" and check references !

These guys seems to know a lot about custom paint job. They have show me pictures of many mustang they have done.

They told me they have done about 40 mustangs, many of them were very graphical and very nice looking.

They can do my mirrors and many other details. They will aplly 3 coats of clearcoat, it is supposed to give the car color (Torch Red) a better look.

Anyone knows them: Carrosserie du Carrefour in Terrebonne?
The guy is called Patrick Lapierre.

BTW, this is about what I intend to do, (any other suggestions?)

Painting is expensive and permanent.

Vinyl is cheaper and can be removed. Actually, vinyl can be done by yourself.

It's up to you...
