Indiana Meet and Greet, OH. ILL, KY, MI Welcome too
I started this thread to discuss a proposed TMS meet. Here are some locations I came up with. Here are a couple dates I'll throw out also, both are Sundays.
September 23rd September 30th Mounds State Park - Anderson, IN Hooters - 6426 E. 82nd Street Indianapolis Fort Harrison State Park - Indianapolis Gray Brothers - Mooresville, IN Eagle Creek Park Brown County State Park There are shelters available at the parks, but that would up the cost of the get together. Obviously there are any number of places we could meet and that could be decided after we get a better count and the general direction everyone is traveling. If we meet at a park, is there any interest in having a cook out/picnic. I would be willing to take care of the food, we could contribute through paypal or settle up at the meet. Everyone bring their own pop. Feel free to add your ideas of dates and places, etc. This is to just get the ball seriously rolling. |
Hey! Ben, Anywhere in the Indy area sounds good ! but southern Indiana as in the Brown County area would be cool too! As you know there's a lot fun black top to drive there! plus Brown County State park is very car meet friendly place!

I could do an Indiana get-togther, about a 4hr drive. Sept.23rd would not work for me as that week I'll be on call & can't leave the area, the 30th would work as well as Oct.
Lets just do this before it gets too cold! LOL Eleanor Dreaming, thanks for getting started ,I'll nominate you to finalize & pick the place. Thanks in advance. My company operates the Lifeline helis in & around Indianapolis, I can tap on some local input & perhaps resources if it will help.I know a few people who live & work in the area. Let me know if I can help out. Let me know if you needs funds for the get-togther, I can contribute via Paypal. aircare84 |
sounds like a lot of fun!...although...thats a pretty long drive for my 43 model year old car....I have no doubt she would make it...I'm just not sure If I want to listen to my exhaust for 3.5 to 4 hours...each way...Maybe I could borrow my dads '06...it had cruise control!...and a/c!
...about the date...i think October could be better for me...I work saturdays and sundays....(I'm a minister)....so I'll need more time in advance...but dont change the date becuase of me...if I cant make it, i cant make it. I like the location...I went to school in Bloomington so I know the area pretty well. |
I can't do Sept! but mid Oct! say the weekend 13-14 ? :dunno: It sucks at my age still needing to work for a living!..:banghead: To bad I don't have 70MACH1OWNER's buck's I could travel all over meeting my Stang bud's.... but maybe I will, by the time I get to his age!!......:jester:
|
Hey Guys,
My wife and I love the Brown county area. Mid Oct. would be best for me. Sept. weekends are already full on my end. Keep me informed. Scott:nice: |

http://www.antlerlogcabins.com/avail...nscurrent.html The cabins are about 20 minutes west of Nashville. The wife and I have gone the week between Xmas and New years for the last 3 years. Those mooses at Solitude cabin on 12/25 thur 12/29 is us. You should try it. And you right the roads over there are great fun to drive in these cars. But we normally take the Explorer because the Stang stifles her shopping to much. :bs: Scott |
Hi guys- like I said I'm up for meeting any time, and anywhere (within reason LOL, places like Florida are not acceptable  ).
Let's try to set a date this weekend and get invites out to everyone- I pm'ed everyone on the list I wrote above in post #3 so hopefully more people will join in soon. |
Keep me informed on this - I've already got some weekends planned, but if the selected date fits I plan to drive in from SE Michigan.

OK, here goes nothing. Everyone keeps talking about Brown County and October, how about this Brown County on Saturday, October 20th? I am going to guess everyone is familiar with the Brown County traffic that time of year.
Do we want to try to get a Shelter or do we just want to take our chances on getting a picnic area? There are some shelters still available at this time. I am guessing since it a pretty good drive for some we would want to make a day or close to a day out of it. |
Ben,
That will work for me. I am not familiar with the traffic there though. Shelter or picnic area, really doesn't matter to me. I would suggest an alternate day in case of a rain out. I'll only be able to spend an afternoon there myself as I'll have a 3hr + drive each way. Will also have to bring my youngest with me as wife works Saturdays from 4-11. Larry |

Hi Ben,
I think it might be best to get the shelter myself. That way we have a fixed area to meet and something to keep us dry if it did rain. It will be the peak of the fall color season over there and it will be busy. It is a very pretty area for a drive and to have a meet. Count me and the wife in. But if Brown county doesn't work for others I will go somewhere else. Scott:nice: |
OK, I will take care of reserving a shelter. Like Scott said it will the peak of the Fall colors and that makes for really heavy traffic in the Brown County and Nashville area.
|
I have reserved the Tulip Tree Shelter for our meet on Saturday October 20th. I did this over the net so I had to go by the details on the reservation pages. Here is a link to the park website.
http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/prope...owncounty.html It has the address so those that need directions can get on mapquest and such. There is also a map of the property. Here is the desription of the shelter from the site. AN OPEN SHELTER THAT HAS A PAVED FLOOR, HAS A SMALL GRILL AND A GROUP GRILL, 15 PARKING SPACES, WILL SEAT 60 PEOPLE, SHELTERHOUSE IS LOCATED ON SOUTH SIDE OF THE WESTGATE ROAD, IN A PRIVATE SEMI-WOODED AREA I hope this works for eveyone. I'm sure we could get more cars with some creative parking. Souinds like the next thing to decide is a time frame, start time isn't a problem, but a ending time would be needed. We wouldn't want to leave and have someone show up late and miss eveyone. The other thing would be do we want to have a group picnic or just leave that up to to each individual. If we want to picnic the local Indiana folks could take care of the perishables and the out of towners the other stuff or I would be willing to take care the whole thing and each bring their on soft drinks. We can work out those details later. |
October sounds good. I usually put my car away around the end of October - as soon as the first good cold snap hits. Hopefully the weather holds out.
A little off-subject, but if you like Brown County, mark your calendar for the Shelby Spring Fling next May 16th - 18th. I have gone the last 2 years after an 18 year break. Tons of late model Mustangs will be there - and of course, all the original Shelbys... Link to some pics from this year... http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...t=spring+fling And the year before - http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...t=spring+fling |
Hey Ben,
PM sent. I am looking forward to see all of you guys. I will be a fun time. Scott:nice: |
October sounds good to me also. I will be bringing my wife and two girls so they can do some shopping in Nashville.
Chris just a heads-up, I ordered my stripes last Wednesday and should have them this week. I would love to get them installed before the Meet and Greet. Let me know if you have some time, if not I may try installing them myself. |
We will be there! Probably check out a hotel, and stay the 20th, come home the 21st.
|
I'm secluded for a work related seminar in Peoria IL, the weekend of the 20th :banghead: going to try to get out of it! probably can't! :dunno: take alot of pics guys and post!

It's going to be hard to attend a seminar when you have the flu all weekend...... :puke: (cough, cough). C'mon man, you no-showed at Brenspeed in May- you owe us this one. :poke: |
Ben,
Thanks for doing the legwork on this. Let me know about the cost & I can paypal you for a portion of any costs involved. Start & stop time are not going to be a concern for me, it will be noon before I'd get there & I'll need to depart by dark or so anyway. We could each bring something for a cookout, burgers, potatoe salad, sides, etc. |
Right on I can chip in too..... :nice:
|
Me three on chip'n in. Start and stop time are no concern to me either. We are planning on spending the night at SR46 and I-65 near Columbus Ind.
Scott:nice: |
The Shelter was only $30 bucks I'm not worried about that. When we get a better head count I will send my paypal address to everyone for the picnic and the shelter cost.
The only thing that I would ask if something happens and we need to cancel, we do so before the first of October. |

:hmm: . . . Maybe I will make my way over and introduce myself in person to some other TMS'ers. :nice: I may need a day off of watching college football. :jester: By the way . . . . 10/20/07 is homecoming for IU (vs. Penn State). Didn't know if that would weigh on your time decision for the get together.

That might add some time to a drive accross SR 46 from I-65. Most of the IU Football people should be on SR 37 heading to Bloomington. |
I will also chip in. I don't know if we will spend the whole day due to the girls wanting to shop in Nashville.

Hey Steve, I'll set in the bar with you while the gals do Nashville. Looking forward to meeting you!! Scott |
Let's brainstorm about other people who might attend.... I pm'ed the guys mentioned earlier and some have responded, others have not. I also PM'ed "dly" (Darrell) and am waiting for him to respond. I plan to invite Brent and the guys from Brenspeed, they may come if they're not open that weekend.
Who else from the site can we get the word out to? I don't think many people checkout this Regional Chat forum....... should we post in a couple of other places? I can't sort the Member's List by location lol. |

I'm not on call that week & wife gave me the go, so I'm set. Would be great if Brent was able to make it also. I posted on the mustangforums.com & the Torch Red Registry, nothing from either of those yet though. How about the food, do we want to all bring or toss Ben cash? Scott I actually grew up listening to older country.... the Statler Brothers, Waylon Jennings, and a bunch of other singers/groups that I have consequently blocked from my memory. The only one that I revisit is Johnny Cash! :metal:

Cody, wish you could make it but we understand, I'm sure.....
I spoke to Brent @ Brenspeed today and he is going to try to make it as long as they can find a sitter for their children. He mentioned trying to bring a couple of their shop cars along if possible! So, not a definite "yes" yet but it sounds kinda promising! Let's try to get commitments here...... I'll start a list and you guys can help remind me to edit it as needed LOL! Attendees:

Good man!!!:nice: |
Yep - I plan on going. Most likely for a few hours in the afternoon... But it is weather dependent. If things start to get cold / rainy, that is the time I put her away for the winter. At least that is the way it has worked out the last 2 years. Right around the 22nd...
|
Unfortunately I won't be able to make this trip. My niece is getting married that weekend so I need to be at the family event! Maybe next year.

Still have a month to go, might get a few more. Regardless, It will be a great way to spend a Saturday. I'd probably just be doing yardwork or cleaning the Stang anyway.
I posted on the Buckeyes Stang forum as well. |

Guys-
Got an email from Dave at Brenspeed and he said he and Brent are planning on coming, and likely bringing their Saleen car in their trailer! Also, their fall dyno day is October 27th!!! Be there or be square, you old-timers! |
That really is great news about Dave and Brent. :metal: Maybe they will attract a few of those guys that are waffling about coming. I will have to check with my wife on the dyno day. We have reservations at the Biltmore estate in Ashville, North Carolina that weekend or the next. I can't remember. If it is not that weekend I will surely try to make it.
Scott :nice: |
Tom,
Thats great news! I've talked with Brent a few times, looking forward to meeting him, along with the rest of you too. Might attract a few other members like Scott said. Never hurts to have a celebrity:nice: |

Checked with the wifey and the Biltmore trip is the weekend of Nov 3rd. So I think I can make it to the dyno day on the 27th. How about you STD since you left us hanging in May. :jester: Larry (Aircare84), Ever had that car of yours on a dyno? I know where Tom281 lives and he bought breakfast in May. Scott |

Larry (Aircare84), Ever had that car of yours on a dyno? I know where Tom281 lives and he bought breakfast in May. Scott Nope, never had it on a dyno. I've only got a JLT2 +Brenspeeds 93 tune for performance mods. The tune has been issue free since last fall.I had Brent modify the dashpot close percentage to reduce the throttle hang a bit. I'd like to install LT's, but thats a bit down the road. After driving min-vans for 23yrs prior to getting the Stang, this car has plenty of go for me. I'll talk with Brent & see what his opinion is, if a little more could be tweaked out of it,might be worth the trip. Larry |
