Thumbs down

Here is the condensed story- and a warning about anyone thinking about bringing their car to XMP-

I made an appointment in Jan to bring my car into XMP in Aliso Viejo
www.x-m-p.com
for a fuel and ignition system
street tune- custom chip

Brought my car in- also decided to have gears installed-

estimate- $2900.00

A little pricey but I had heard they do good work-

Well 7 months later and my car is still not finished-

They are demanding full payment even though the car is not finished-

Not to mention I go to pay the bill and now all of a sudden the bill is $4300-

Now the worse part-

when I go down there- my car is not even there!!!

I am told the owner has it !!! that he took it home!!!!

The next time I see my car there is a scratch in the 1/4 panel and a door ding in my paint job that is less then a year old-

They are demanding payment- wont show me the final bill- and my car isnt even finished!!

and now I just got a phone call telling me that I better take a good last look at my car because they are putting a lien on it and they will take it from under me-

I have contacted the BAR and an attorney-

but wanted to share my story to stop anyone else from making the same mistake-
Thanks for listening to my rant......

Whoa, thats big... XMP has a pretty good rep...

That really bites. Check your paperwork, and see if it says anything about the vehicle being taken off property, and liabilty for damages while in thier possesion, as well as charges, and payment. I would bet they have it all covered, and its going to be hard to get out of.

They have nothing about taking the car off site for personal use- or taking the car home in the paperwork-

I also have a signed estimate which they exceeded by well over $1000 with out notifying me....

- actually you should see some of the posts on the other boards...

others are now coming forward saying that they too were screwed by XMP- or how they have heard nothing but bad things about them-

XMP has a good rep for building good cars for magazines, SEMA, and themselves.....

but what I am learning now talking to others- if your car is not going to be in a magazine, SEMA, exc exc.....this is what happens-

I got told several times they couldnt work on my car because they had a magazine project car they had to finish- that it was more important- even though I am the paying customer-

Every week I went in there it was another excuse...

we have to get this Falken drift car done so we cant work on yours
we have to get this Boyd Cottington car done so we cant work on yours-

In fact they got the Boyd car done in a week- but it takes them 7 months to finish a fuel and ignition system on my car- and then they try and jack up my bill with out telling me-

That pretty good rep is why I brought them my car- but now 7 months later- and after talking many on other boards I am learning more-

and I just want to spread the word so this does not happen to anybody else now that I know how they operate- before someone else makes the same mistake I did and brings them their car- just because they too have seen all of the stuff they build for the magazines-

The guys that owns the place is Eric Cheney. he used to work for Saleen and tuttle click ford in Irvine. I wouldn't put it past him to pull this kind of crap, and although there are two sides to every story, all your complaints are things that have happend before at his shop. They do good work but they have alot of distractions and they do make you feel less important than every other client. Thats the main reason I try to convince my friends not to go there. But lets be honest, how many shops like his, or Saleen/Roush really provide really good service. Hope it all works out for you.
