I am converting my mechanical fuel pump over to an electronical fuel pump. Has anyone experienced any problems with such a conversion?

On a 66? The only issues I've had are extra noise, and the leads coming off. The carter pumps don't have a good electrical connection sometimes. And, depending on where you mount it, you're going to get some noise out of it- just use isolation pads and some sort of bracket; remember to put it at or below the tank level.
