I agree Rich and it most likely will not go mainly due to Revenue they will say it creates. The cost savings alone from not having to make two plates per car would be substantial.

Worth a shot though.

I have signed these type of petitions in the past and will sign this one as well. However I highly doubt California will ever get rid of the front plate law

I would LOVE to see front plates abolished, and I hate to be skeptical, but it would probably take more than 18,000,000 signatures!

Unfortunately, the petition presents no compelling reason for the state to eliminate them...the $$$ is being passed along to us in the form of registration fees.

Just sounds like a bunch of folks who just don't like the way they look - and yes, I'm one of them!

The problem is that some states that have no front license plates still require you to have some sort of plate in front anyway--with your favorite team logo or whatever. I've heard that it is so radar guns have a flat surface to home in on . If that is the case, my guess is CA will require a front plate of some sort anyway since speeding tickets are a big source of revenue.

I won't sign it! I won't, I won't.

Well, I signed it, but I'm not sure I care that much personally. I have always had personalized plates and plate frames and I like to have those on both front and back for the most exposure. I did not drill into the bumper however, I affixed with the highest grade of two sided tape. 30,000 miles and 3 years later, no problems.

And that law will never be changed and, frankly, it shouldn't. Law enforcement needs those plates up front for a myriad of reasons.

I signed the petition, but like others say I Doubt they will change it.

I drive without my front plate, matter of fact its currently hanging on my wall above my computers, been driving that way for almost a year, its not a very enforced law

True. LEO's enforce it when they have no other reason to pull you over. Its a "pretext"---similar to a tail light being out. You think they really care your tail light is out? No....they just want to get you on the side to screen you. Think they really care if you have no front plate? No-but if they are looking for a reason to pull you over...you just gave it to them.

Its not that any of us have anything to hide-but its a pain.
