Looks like Sirius is in my future. Birmingham has three country stations and no modern rock.

 

Xm has been in my life for years because of the lack of(decent) radio stations in Birmingham.

Its really sucked since it moved to 100.5 so its no surprise.

 

I guess i'll have to start my XM service back up. Whats the deal with the X???

 

I don't know. I heard on the news last night that they'll sign off today at 5pm.

 

They are becoming Wjox sports radio.....

 

That sucks. Always loved the "Live in the X Lounge" CDs. Y'all think BHM is bad, try HSV sometime. I've had both XM and Sirius and I enjoy Sirius better.

 

HUGE +1 on the Sirius. The only thing XM has going for it is MLB. I'm a local team fan so the local stations take care of that for me. Sirius is just great.

 

You are Joking? I love Huntsvilles stations. You all have the house of Hair. Down here its just assumed we enjoy getting intimate with our cousins while listening to one of the 20 country stations on the air.

Meh, Xm has some just plain bad days......and days on end. I usually wind up loading the shaker and just ignoring it. Top Tracks, the sixties and the boneyard are the only ones I really deal with.
And most fun of all- why do they need 7 Christmas channels?

 

aw man! that sucks... we used to pick it up here through translators... then they took them down...and ive been without a rock station for over a year... I have a xm radio..just havent hooked it up yet.... need to do it!

 

The only thing HSV stations are good for is setting your clock because their playlists are set in stone. HSV radio sucks.

 

Ahhhh, I haven't spent hours listening to them or anything, maybe I should be glad . All Bham has now is 50 urban stations, 1 teenager station,100 country stations, 1 oldie station and 2 classic rock stations-with the same friggin playlist. The X was in the toilet the second they moved to 100.5,

 

We have an oldies station? I know we have an '80s station...

 

There's a classical and symphony station on 90.3.. What is the 80's station? I dont know about anything "oldies" unless its 96.5?

By the way, im geting XM turned back on today. Broadcast radio has plumeted to no return.

 

97.7 the peach is the oldies station. Its actually kind of decent.

80s? You mean the crappy 106.9?

I remember when Birmingham had GOOD radio- kicks 106, z-100, that rock station a few years ago, 102.5 before it became country....WTh happened?

 

I didn't know about 97.7.

 

Its only been around for about six months. Its based out of Clanton or Columbiana I think.
Its sixties and seventies music. NOT corporate radio either(yet).
Its playlist is like the lower decade channels on Xm.

 

106.9 is The Eagle.. it is classic rock like 99.5. Although I feel old now.. 99.5 considers Alice In Chains, Nirvana, RHCP and Soundgarden classic rock. I remember when those bands first came out

I also remember when the X first started on 105.9 and was The Bear. I really miss 97.3 when it was a rock station.

 

Yea, I hate the eagle. Their playlist blows. I nearly wrecked when I heard Motley Crue as classic rock on Rock 99!, whose playlist is starting to suck also!

97.3 Didn't suck- thats why it is no longer on the air!

Hey guys, check out 105.5.. its a modern rock station. So far i havent heard any DJ's or even commercials so I dont know any of the story behind it. Pretty good.
