Good resturants?

The wife and I will be staying in Birmingham Saturday night, September 2nd. While we could easily go home we decided to make it mini trip and burn some Holiday Inn points. Any suggestions on good places to eat?
Thanks!

Where in Birmingham? Here is a general idea, most on highway 31.

You Can't go wrong with Johnny Carinos Logans
Both at 459 and 31-galleria flyover exit.
Olive Garden(459 Galleria exit),Texas Roadhouse(65 Exit 246), Red Lobster(Vestavia Hills).Buffalo Wild Wings(65 Exit 238 and others too),Hooters(one on 280 and one on 65 exit 246). I love Applebees too(exit 246). For Pizza, Alfredos, Exit 246, go down to 31 across from Walmart). Cheesecake factory is supposed to be good(at the summit), PF Changs supposed to be good(the summit hwy 280), Stix- chinese to the left, japanese to the right(459 galleria exit)...

Best BBQ we have up here is Golden Rule.
Avoid Habaneros for mexican- their meat smells like catfood.

This place looks fun, but I'm not from AL! Check out find businesses under google maps of Birmingham. Once you picked a place, see if anyone gives it the thumbs down! I travel all the time and mostly asked a gas station attendant where a good place to take a date in town would be...works out well most of the time.

Guys you are at the Holiday Inn Airport, I think, Leave the Inn and go back towards the Track on I-20, exit at the Oporto blvd exit.

There should be numerous restuarants in that area, less than 5 miles from your hotel.

Yes Bahama breeze is great, however it is on Highway 280 past the I 459 junction, no where near The holiday inn airport (5000 Arington Blvd.)

Suggest going to Map Quest for directions,

Thanks,

Just my $0.02, but Bahama Breeze and Johnny Carino's are everywhere. Try something you can't get anyplace, like Dreamland BBQ.

Tin roof or Golden Rule. The original dreamland is the best one.

Do we have anything other than dreamland that aren't total chains? I don't think so

Yes you do, Milo's. It's so easy for y'all that live around them to forget that they don't exist evrywhere else. And a big +1 on Dreamland as well, puts Golden Rule to shame.

AHH Milos- Land of the delicious sweet tea. Would you believe I pass one every week and have never been to it?

Nothing can put Golden Rule to shame, I would live off it if I had to. Plus they have fried pickles there.

Dreamland, great ribs, fresh loaf bread.....

Hmm.

If you are willing to drive across town (B'ham) all of these suggestions given above are great.

Of course you can take I-459 to the Galleria Mall exit and have numerous
choices. Both on the Mall ring road and up & down John Hawkins Parkway.
also known as Highway 150.

Dreamland #2 is located on Birminghams southside, there other great restuarants and bars around there also.

The original Dreamland is located in Tuscaloosa, above a 45 minute drive from town down I59-20 south.

In the oporto / Crestwood Blvd. area are several also ( Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.)

Also 1 exit east (towards Atlanta) from the track exit, is several restuarants ( Cracker Barrel, Rib City-if its still open, etc.)

That would be the Moody/Leeds exit, no Rib City doesn't exist. Old Smokey's is in Leeds and you need to know where you're going to find it, but it's excellent. Milo's is right there off the interstate though. The Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesdays, McDs, Taco Bell, Krystal, Hardee's, Waffle House, all the normal fast food chains. Couple of decent mexican places.

Google Maps search for restaurants in Moody, AL.

I usually raid the in-laws fridge (they live in Moody) and have Milo's myself.

We have a Dreamland over in Montgomery now and I think I have been to Golden Rule as when I was checking out the Heritage pipe band. I was kind of looking for something local only as we have most of the chains in Montgomery as well. I wouldn't mind going to a Bone Fish Grill if you had one... the one in Montgomey is fantastic! But thanks for the help everyone!

The Bonefish grill is on the ring road of the Galleria Mall. Enter at the entrance closest to highway 31 and the former Kmart, now a Bed, Bath &
Beyond.

It is at an angle across from the Wynfrey Hotel at the Galleria Mall.
It is on the "ring" road the circles the mall, also you can turn at Costco
go over to Patton Creek area and find tons more of restuarants.

Also on the ring road, J. Alexanders, Michaels Steak & SEafood, Styx Japanese, Ted Turner buffalo grill (Suxs). And there is Shulas Steakhouse in the Wynfrey itself. Also Olive Garden on ring road. Inside the mall you have food court, Ruby Tuesdays, Etc.
