I just got back from Fantasy of Flight - not for a Mustang show, but for a party held for aviation employees across the country - my wife works for an FBO (Fixed Base Operation) that fuels planes. All this time in Florida, and I've never been there before.

They have combat flight simulators and they were holding a contest for the top 3 highest scores. I got 1st place! I won a plane mounted on a stand... I guess it's a pretty nice plane because all the aviation fanatics were drooling over it! I'll post a pic of it tomorrow.

So, now I'm really looking forward to April 2007 for the car show at Fantasy of Flight... it's a really cool place... and will be a lot cooler with all the Mustangs parked around!

Watch out if they have another combat simulator contest!!

 

sounds like fun, I've loved flight combat simulators since I was about 8. be sure to post pics.

 

Yeah dude - I have always been a big fan of planes - eager to see pics....

 

Flight simulators are so much fun, but I haven't played one in a loooooong time. It reminds me of the days when I'd play F-15 Fighter on my IBM XT 8088 and Aces of the Pacific on my 286 PC.

I've lived in Florida for over 30 years and past it numerous times, on I-4, but never been there.
I think its about time I check it out next year.

Believe it or not guys, we forgot our camera! So did everybody else on the party bus!

I have one pic that they gave us (that I had to scan), and a couple pics of my 1st place prize in the combat flight simulator.

I had to stand next to the red head (my left hand is holding my beverage, but where is my right hand?):

We can't forget our cameras in April!! I hope they have the simulators running with another contest. You have to take a "briefing" before you fly, too. You'll have to beat 18 planes shot down and 90,460 points!

I'm definitely going to check it out next year.

I went to the MacDill air show a few years ago and it was awesome.
My cousin's husband is a Nat'l Guard F16 pilot and, that year, they flew their F16s to Tampa for the show.
He picked me up and got me in base using the back entrance.
When we got there, I couldn't believe it, their planes were parked right in the center of all the action so we had the best view of everything.
I even got the privilege to sit in a F-104 starfighter.
It was a great time.

that airshow was awesome of course me being a navy brat and having seen the blue angels since i was a fetus, i'm biased. that F104 is quite the aircraft. it has a sound that no other plane has. i was fortunate enough to see it fly again this past year here in titusville. i went to FOF back in '99 and wasn't impressed at all. i'll probably give it another try though, if mustangs are involved.

 

We were at the show earlier this year, it was pretty big, I think 200-250 cars. I didn't have a chance to look around, as I was busy strapping down cars on my dyno.
