I just looked at the latest RadioShack store catalog today and saw the lineup for the next-generation XMODS Custom R/C Cars. The good news is that the 2005 Mustang GT will be part of the new lineup this Christmas season. It will be in Sonic Blue with the Optional 17" wheels (64D). Retail price is roughly $59.99.
Other cars in the lineup include the Infiniti G35 (red), Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII (dark gray), 1967 Pontiac Firebird (<s>black</s> purple), Ford F150 (<s>orange</s> yellow) and Hummer H2 (black).

Yes! It finally came in. The XMODS Evolution Mustang GT (Catalog #60-8018; $59.99) is now available at your local RadioShack.
Although the packaging labels it as a 2006 model, the markings on the product itself say 2005, not to mention that it's molded in Sonic Blue, not Vista Blue. How do I know? Just shine it against a light and you'll see the purplish tint Sonic Blue is known for.
The Body Kit (Catalog # 60-8559; $12.99) is also available, featuring two different sets from Classic Design Concepts and H&R, plus a Sparco steering wheel.
Chrome "Optional" wheels (64F) wrapped in low-profile slicks.
Overall, despite the awkward wheel proportions, I'm very impressed with the design of this R/C. The second-generation chassis looks much more durable than its predecessor.
I haven't run it yet, as I'm in the process of adding metal bearings to the chassis. A road test will be available tomorrow.

Right now, it only comes in Sonic Blue. And since XMODS cars are limited to at most two colors (the Supra got away with three when a body + kit set was offered), the next Mustang color will most likely be either Satin Silver, Tungsten Grey or one of the reds (Redfire or Torch Red).

Seriously, I am as giddy as a schoolgirl about this thing. I simply MUST have one. If I can just find some Bullitt wheels for it, I'll see to it that some white stripes get painted on it. I might even bring it here to school just to race it up and down the nice smooth hallways. I almost wonder if I could turn it into some kind of technology class project. LOL.
This thing definitely gets a banana from me.

Went to my local Radioi Shack last night and found not a trace of the new Mustang. Ugh. I did see the '65, though, so I'm sure I will be getting this one too.
Y'know, I'm not overly crazy about either of the body kits for the '05. I still want some Bullitts, but I think I found something which might be an acceptable substitute in the time being.
Do you know if these will fit on the '05? Because if so, I can touch 'em up so that they'd be pretty close. Let me know!

After spending a couple of hours in dropping the ride height and upgrading the motor and suspension - not to mention adding the Command Logic Lights kit, the Mustang is finally waxed and ready for show (along with my 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V-Spec).

I'm going to get one of those soon, but come on, they need to make a BLACK one, with some bullets too. But I'm surprised no one came out with a black '05 yet. (the only colors I've seen are the reds, blues, green, and silver) Unless there's someone out there who has seen one?
And also, you said you waxed the stang and the skyline? How can you wax them, or what do you use? I never heard of waxing little cars like that, but it sounds awesome.

Just use your favorite wax (i.e. Zaino, Meguiar's). I use Simply Z-Best Car Wax on my XMODS.
