Did they buy all of Playing Mantis or just the Johnny Lightning branch? Any word on how this will affect the end product?

They bought all of Playing Mantis. No word and any plans for immediate changes.

RC2 Brands (Ertl) plans on making no changes to the Johnny Lightning line for 2004. I will post updates as I hear more.

You probably still can. Ertl also offers this service. Note it is not cheap for either of them to do a special car.
