Was reading in the Detroit News today that Fords figuring a yearly production run of the Mustang should run around 193,000 units.

So with 25,000 pre-orders, that leaves 168,000 Mustangs left!

Get yours before they are gone!!!

So that means 16,000 units a month. Within two months of production (including ramp up) the initial back log should be cleaned up.

I think they should just quit making them at the end of the month..... that way we have a short run special edition 05. Then just start making o6's with 18" wheels and 5.0 cammers in them.

If they can price those at $25k, that would be great!

Otherwise, keep'm coming!

I'll probably not get one till 2007-8 timeframe.

It'll be interesting to see what 'special models' they've built by then!

I think that is the maximum capacity for a full production year, at least that is my interpretation of that article.

Job 1 for the Mustang started after the usual yearly Job 1 for cars, so in that case, 2005 production will fall below the maximum 193,000 units. For 2005, my guess is about 185,000 units max, unless they cut back on Mazda 6 production.

that would still be a huge jump in production compared to the last few years where the average was about 140,000 units.

I don't remember where, but I could swear I read once that they were targeting 150,000 units, with only about 1/3 being GTs. Could be wrong, but for some reason I remember those #s.

They are working 2-10's currently, and scheduled this week to run 28 jobs per hour on Mustang.
