Just got word that my mustang gets built 10/7/04 ...next thurs! I am the 5539 05 mustang to be built. It wont be long till im drivin it!

Congrats! That should put me at Tues. or Wed. the following week (#6620). Anyone have updated daily production numbers? 400 I'm guessing.

 

Yea you should be next week... my build date just got assigned today...you have a build week...your build date should follow very shortly....i can't wait...i am seriously so pumped.

 

I don't think they are building them sequentially then. My last four is 5151, and it was built yesterday according to my dealer today! Plus the VIN now shows up at CARFAX which it didn't before.

Plus more good news. I was told that Ford won't actually ship my Stang to the dealer in Florida until 3 weeks prior to the pick-up date I've arranged, so it'll get there about 10-13 days before me, but that is all.

 

Kind of cool thing my b-day is 5/29 and my car is 5539 .....5 / 5-3 = 2....9 5/29. I think im playing the lotto this week

 

OK, if they are only in the 6,000 area for cars being built and have pre-sold over 25,000 cars, how is it possible that cars will be on dealer lots at the end of october to sell

 

The VIN is a randomly assigned number I believe. Has nothing to do with the order they are built.

VIN's are not built in numerical order. Your VIN may or may not be an accurate indicator of when your pony will gallop out of the barn.

 

I have the last four VIN 5101 and from my experience they have been built sequentially. Mine was supposed to be built this week so I'm assuming mine was built Monday or Tuesday.

 

I know MustangJohn said they were non-sequential, but it seems they are somewhat sequential. Maybe sequential blocks by day or by week, but random within that block.

Yours was probably built the same day as mine. All the little hints that it is getting closer are cool. The VIN showing up at Carfax was one of the neater ones.

 

Congrats!! When I saw that Topic I just knew it was going to say they were being shipped next Thursday which is my birthday I was wrong...but I'm happy for you anyway.

That should but us in the same boat with my cars VIN number being 6515. I haven't heard a date yet as of Monday still just the week of Oct 11th and that's fine with me though it can't come soon enough.

 

A lot of the preorders are probably GTs. Dealers may be getting V6's that were not preordered. Ford had already decided on a predetermined ratio of V6 to GT builds. I think it was somewhere in the mid 30% range for GTs, 60-something % V6. I've heard (here or somewhere else, can't remember) that based on the preorders, they've changed that ratio to build a higher percentage of GTs. Maybe as many as 50% will be GTs. Part of the reason for changing this ratio may well be to meet the demand for preordered GTs.

Also, given the problem with the GT cylinder heads, we'll see V6's on the lots before we see GTs. It may be just a week or two, or it may be longer.

 

I see all of the VIN's you guys are posting and I am just assuming that all of them have a "0" preceeding them. The VIN's being assigned now are in the 112000 range and higher so if they are sequential then it could take months to build just what they have orders for up til today. That or I am just confused?

 

Better call and tell no one to drive it. i know if I worked there....I would work your new car.
